      How do I induce nightmares?

Lucidity to combat nightmares. Lucidity to...induce nightmares?

      Anybody have any tips?

Short answer: I did it by putting fear into a DC, then letting it haunt me.

Summon something that you find terrifying. and then ... RUN!

To me that sounds like a contradiction in terms. Because once I'm Lucid I won't be afraid. But I do love anxiety induced Lucidity.

Maybe read some horror novels of the supernatural type. I'm not always sure what causes the best nightmares. Sometimes I get them after a good freaky movie. But most times they seem completely random.

I guess best nightmares sounds like a contradiction as well. But I love the intensity of a good scary dream. I just don't like the ones that involve the death of family members or something like that.

Just, put yourself in a scary story. Once lucid, find a city, ask a DC where the nearest haunted house is, and tell him you are going to proove him wrong that it is haunted by exploring...

Oh my gosh, I've got to try that!

      Oh. Okay.

I have a question though. How do you become scared of something?

For example, if you're not scared of someone standing over you and torturing you to death, how do you become scared of it? ow do you became scared of something you're not?

That's the part that's really bugging me.

      Something like...

"I will be scared of fat guy in spandex impaling me with a fork."
"I will be scared of fat guy in spandex impaling me with a fork."
"I will be scared of fat guy in spandex impaling me with a fork."

      Like that? xO

You have to associate it with something inherently frightening. I doubt you can become randomly terrified of something without linking it to your legitimate fears. Example: I am not afraid of bunnies. I am already afraid of killer animals AND monsters. I watch Rise of the Monster Bunnies and see the mutant rabbits. I am now afraid of bunnies. (Not because the movie as much as because my monster/animal fear.) Anyway, that is fear as I understand it. It's probably a little simplified but I think the concept is pretty true. Sensible, at least.

      Here's what you can try...

Go borrow someone's Playstation 2 (unless you have one yourself).
Go to the nearest Video Game rental store and rent Silent Hill, the first one.
In the middle of the night, when you're all alone, turn off all the lights and make sure your TV's volume is up loud.
      Start playing the game.

If Silent Hill doesn't work out for you, try playing something else that is scary, or watch a scary movie.

Well, I don't know if you'll even want to sleep at night if you do that...but good luck!

I've played Silent Hill 2, 3, and 4 already. Resident Evil 4 too...

      >.< No...it's more of a psychological backwater for me now. Although I loved the level in the sewers in Silent Hill 3 where the walls changed to a coagulating bloody color. =]

      *ahem* Just a little ^.^
It helps to be stressed, everyone here seems really laid-back, so it's probably not recommended. But procrastinating gives fills my dreams with anxiety and panic, nothing like a good rush here and there.

Before sleeping go and google Ted Kennedy's new health care plan for the USA. Think of yourself having a terrible, painful illness perhaps involving a sex organ. Concentrate on entering an ER and there is a line of people 400 hours long.......
