      Neurological Music Files...

This is for those of DV who are WELL versed in the art of lucid dreaming as it is very specific. Is it possible to alter a dream scene such that one can have ANY song they are familiar with play at whatever loudness as if it were the very wind itself (The ultimate in wireless technology)?

You mean like listening to music in dreams? Every once in a while I'll have dreams where I'm listening to music on a stereo and it sounds awesome. I think it can sound better than real life sometimes

I actually listened to song in a dream just a few nights back that I thought I knew, but when I woke up I realised that my mind just made it up!

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. Listening to music you've heard in real life in your dreams, like some kind of savant-like mental jukebox.

This is a very interesting idea.

You should note that, since you mention neurology in your title, that neurology shows that audio is still a very receptive sense in your sleep. It might be a good idea to keep a shuffle playlist on while you sleep to help influence your mind about songs you may not be thinking about.

Also, the shifting music would help function as a dream indicator (ie. "The songs keeping changing... ohhh, I'm dreaming").

      What do you think...?

Honestly, I haven't delved too deeply into thinking of applications for this idea, I really just wanted to see if it was possible through more experienced LDers so I could...listen to "I can walk on water, I can fly" as I walked on water and flew...

I'm sure there are other cool things one could do with the idea though...

And what's all this neurology idea being used incorrectly? I know little of it myself, but I just figured that any brain function either internal or external, required neurons to fire.

      What do you mean incorrectly?

You do require neurons to fire to sense.. are you under the impression that there is no brain activity during sleep?

As the audio pathway communicates with the olivary nucleus, down by the cerebral peduncles, it is what directly interacts with the reticular activation system to wake us up. However, residual activity still rises to the medial geniculate nucleus where the brain still perceives it as real sound. This occurs during sleep and does not necessitate mono amine neurotransmitter activity.

      What do you think...?

...made it seem like I used the world neurological incorrectly.

      Ohhhhh!

I am sorry, friend, I meant it more like "since you mentioned this, I'll mention this too". Not, "since you are trying to talk about this, you should consider."

Sorry man. I was just trying to relate something to you that I thought you might find interesting considering your choice of words.

Ah, good to know that's cleared up. Also, for clarification, I imagine just accessing the memory of songs in your dream and nothing involving electronics or anything. So, as you peruse the dream world in a lucid dream, one simply imagines a song they know of and it plays, as if there is a god, and it's a giant iPod...

      That would be cool.

I just intended a easy step to get there.

Now, can you dream of a crazy visualizer for the music?

I only think i experienced that in a dream once.

It was a non lucid dream but it involved a bus with a music of Guns n' roses playing on it's radio.
Never had this experience again since then but it would be cool to use it in a Lucid Dream if you could make a radio appear and try to start putting music on it .
