      I dreamed of an owl...

A few nights ago I had the most realistic feeling dream I have ever had, and it has disturbed me greatly, here goes-

I dreamed I was in my backyard standing on my back porch overlooking the lawn and my fence that borders with a nature park, the atmosphere was dark, with the sun blocked by storm clouds but there was still daylight. As I looked at my fence there sat an owl perched atop it, this owl was easily 8 feet tall and was completely golden, except for its chest, which was pure white, the dream was quiet except for a slight hum of wind and no words were said, the owl was looking down at its chest. but then-

It suddenly raised its head and stared straight at me, its head was at least three feet across, I remember its eyes the most of anything, they were huge, the size of basketballs maybe even bigger and were a bright golden color but its facial expression looked angry and it gazed directly into my eyes, I fell to me knees and I was frozen in fear, I could feel my body freeze up as my muscles tightened, its eyes were gazing at me and they literally felt like they were cutting straight through my soul, never in my entire life have I felt such a feeling before, I felt as if I was staring into fear incarnate and I felt like my very life was at its end.

I then heard someone call out from behind me to stand up and I tried to turn my head but it felt as if the muscles were tightened to the point that i could not turn no matter how hard I tried. I tried to move my legs and began to stand, the owl was still gazing at me, I could still feel a great chill upon my body but I was finally able to stand, at that point the owl got even angrier and puffed its chest out and raised both its wings, when it did this it was massive, its wings looked as if the were 20 feet across, I could not defeat its unrelinquished gaze, I was able to slowly move backwards putting every ounce of willpower I could muster, The owl then took flight and I remember thinking this is the end, but I woke up when it was halfway distance to me.

This dream has greatly disturbed me, can someone please help me interpret this experience. I cannot get this dream off my mind, and the Owls eyes are burned into my waking eyes and I see them with great clarity

In terms of matching colour to meaning, gold is associated with a divine association - power that lies beyond yourself. White is the colour associated with purity.

Dreams are incredibly hard to interpret without being the dreamer who dreamed them, though, and it's hard for anyone to really make a judgement as to what the owl signified. Perhaps it was freezing you in place to keep you from leaving and making a bad decision in your dream, perhaps it represents something to you, or it could even be a representation of yourself or your 'animal guide'.

owls usually mean you need to face your fears instead of running away from them. I got a good saying fear is necessary but cowardice is not.
