may i have dreamed all of it?

well.. i always thought myself to be an occasional lucid dreamer, i have lucids but they are not so common and they are very, i mean VERY hard to control, it is common to me to wake up just trying to control the slightest part of my dreams... even flying was very difficult

today, after a few years of this... something happened...

i was taking a nap, i started dreaming and i became lucid, just by noticing i was in a dream. i looked at my palms, i rubbed my hands together ecc.. but as always the lucidity was very hard to achieve and the control was horrendous.. i tried a few times to get out of a room but i couldn't.. the effort was so intense i woke up, i wento to my sister bedroom, and i thought : this is reality, it is too much perfect, not like in my dreams..

AND THEN BANG!! i knew that was a false awakening, it was perfect every detail so vivid, in sounds tactile sensations, even the smells.. i did the rubbing hands, looking at palms thing again and i saw the dream get clearer, more vivid.. i got out of the room without any effort, went in another room where i WANTED to be a big window and wich i WANTED to be at a very high floor. i started running towards the big open window and i took off.. flying away, i even felt the air brushing my cheeks as i started to fly faster...

THE QUESTION NOW IS: what exactly happened today? why so suddenly my lucid dreaming has improved so much?

could this be my real first lucid dream while the others were just me dreaming of being lucid but in fact not being?

thanks in advance and sorry if i was a bit lengthy..

Different lucids have different levels of clarity and control. The more you practice, the easier it is to get high level lucids like this one.

Exactly as Hazel said. This is a sign of improvement as well as could just be one of those dreams where everything just fell into place for you. It's likely that for whatever reason you were just in the right state of mind for you to become lucid and have things to the way you want. Just relax and let the dreams come Congratulations on the great lucid and I wish you many more!

You were still lucid in your other dreams, but now you've reached a higher level of lucidity, where everything is a lot clearer.

      AND THEN BANG!!
Yeah, that happens. And then in your dream journal, you start emphasizing random words, just like in comics. I'd know, I do it too.

Also, lucid dreaming does improve with practice, in terms of clarity, control, and length. Also, congratulations!

I pick up a half-eaten copy of a book by Neil Gaiman, and decide this is all his fault.

I know where you're coming from-

my first full lucid was INCREDIBLE. Perfect dream control, with everything magically vivid down to the tiniest detail, even the pebbles on the dirt below me.

In comparison, every lucid I've had since has been shit quality. But that first experience was so magical that I will keep striving to become a master in LDing I know I will get there and you can too! Good luck.
