Father Made of Strange Static - Once in a Lifetime Dream

It was exactly 5:03 in the morning - I remember looking at the clock. I think I was 8 years old at the time. I was sleeping when I was awakened by my father’s hushed voice beckoning me to get up out of bed. I pretty sure he and I went fishing a few weeks before hand (I’m not 100% on that), and he was dressed up and ready to go fishing that morning, standing in my bedroom doorway. Everything in my room looked the same; nothing was distorted, as far as I can remember that is. My dog, Oscar, was right by my father’s side. The weirdest part was this: my father and Oscar appeared as these bluish-white figures giving off a sort of static. Not like static from a TV screen, but this.. I guess softer sort of static, unlike anything I had seen before. My dad said word for word, “Come on Mike, time to get up. We’re going fishing”. I remember this extreme sense of urgency, I felt like I really needed to get up to go before I pissed off my spectral father. After lying there, silently declining him, I think I remember him saying that he’s going to go take Joe (my little brother) instead, and walking down the hallway with Oscar following suit. After that, I can’t remember anything else. I woke up that morning with this shear sense of terror and confusion – I never have felt a feeling as intense as it. Also, whenever I think about how my father looked as he was trying to wake me in that dream, I feel a watered down version of that intense feeling, and my eyes start to water.

I am a male, sixteen years old, living in Ohio. My dad and I have had our ups and downs for the majority of our lives. We have never had a really stable relationship, but he does love me and he does care for me. We are just starting to get along better now due to new mediums of interest. My dog Oscar lived to be sixteen (human years). He was suffering from brain cancer, and we had to put him down in 2006.

This dream still sticks out in my mind to this day. I have experienced nothing like it in any other dream. Can I get some help finding some meaning behind it? Has anyone else experienced this sort of dream? Any interpretations? I hear that these spectral/staticy figures are significant in some way, and I know friends who have had very powerful, once-in-a-lifetime dreams with figures like these.

      PROLOGUE
First, the intensity you felt is that you felt in reality.
For an 8 year old, feeling his father is sort of leaving him behind, would explain that, and the kid's desire for closer connection and to be loved by his dad fully.

So, if the dream has you sleeping, that means you are asleep in your mind, unaware - or you see something is asleep in your life.
But the idea you have of your dad is beckoning you to wake up. You want that relationship to wake up.

      THE DOORWAY

Him in your doorway ready to go fishing says to me your idea he was fishing for you, trying to catch you.
Oscar by his side might mean how you wished your father would be like Oscar in the way of totally affectionate and loyal to you.
Static means not tuned in, though softer than TV static, is still static. And static means stagnant, not in motion, not receiving the signal. Not a vision. A real vision. It means your realationship to your dad was not solid and in tune or in focus. A bit ghost-like. You said it best yourself: spectral father.
Bluish white might mean peaceful, and good though. At least it was that and half okay. Others have much worse of course.

      THE INTENSITY OF URGENCY

Then, you thought of the urgency to get up and get along with your dad, or else you'd make him angry.
So I gather from that maybe he got angry easily if you did not go his way.
Or else it can just mean get the relationship right or else he would make you angry - he would represent anger in your mind.

But you declined him, meaning there was a problem you had with him that made you refuse him in some way, which made you think he'd prefer your bro Joe insteed, or else just not you.
And your affection and attention would go, with the dream dog, away.

      REAL WAKE UP

You woke up to sheer terror and confusion, which is how the real situation made you feel. Because you feared your dad dod not love you.
"whenever I think about how my father looked as he was trying to wake me in that dream, I feel a watered down version of that intense feeling, and my eyes start to water." = How you wanted that spectral vision of your father to wake up into a fully real or realized father.
And even now affects you, as he must still be partially the same but getting better. The intensity has watered down now.
