      Cannot speak or move

      Hello everyone,
I'm hoping you can help me gain some insight on my nightmares, especially certain aspects of them.

My nightmares usually involve someone being possessed by a demon or evil force. I've always been into horror, ever since I was a child. It was bad because during the day I would be so into watching scary movies or reading scary books, but at night I was always terrified. I'm not sure why my parents kept allowing me to watch/read such things lol. Anyway, when I was about 10 my dad let me watch The Exorcist and it pretty much traumatized me. It took me several years to stop being paralyzed with fear every night that I was going to become possessed by a demon. Now as an adult, it's one of my favorite movies and I enjoy watching it, as well as many other horror movies. But I'm sure my experience after watching that movie as a child (and my general interest in horror throughout my life) is at least part of the reason behind my having these nightmares now.

Sometimes I will have dreams that someone is possessed by a demon, but I won't be scared. It will just be something that is happening, and not really a nightmare. Other times someone will become possessed and I will be terrified, and I still feel terrified after waking up. I only remember having one or two dreams where I was the one who became possessed, usually it is someone else. Sometimes it is a friend or family member, sometimes it is just some random person. Usually the dream will start out normal, and sometimes lots of regular, everyday type things happen before the possession. Then all of a sudden the person I'm with will start to seize. I always know what is happening to them. I'll try to talk to them, to help will them to resist this force entering them, but I cannot speak. I will try to speak or scream but only whimpers come out, and this adds to my fear within the dream. When I realize that I can't control what is happening and that soon they will be possessed and probably trying to kill me, I try to run away. But my movement is impaired, as if I'm weighed down. If I try to run, I often have to clutch at a wall or get down on all fours and clutch at the grass to move myself along. It's like an invisible force is pushing me back, and in the dream I don't understand why, which again adds to my fear because I feel helpless and like I can't escape. Sometimes I become paralyzed and cannot move at all. I will try to will my body to move because I know I have to get away from this evil thing, but either I can't move at all or just the slightest movement is terribly labored, as if my limbs weigh hundreds of pounds. To clarify, in these dreams I'm not scared because I'm fearing death or pain. It's just that I'm afraid of what is happening, of the evil that is nearby. To look into the eyes of the possessed person or see what is happening to them, to know that this evil thing will be coming for me - that's what terrifies me in the dreams.

Any insight you can give would be appreciated, especially about why in these dreams I can't properly speak or move. I really only have one other kind of nightmare (which involves bees or wasps or some other type of insect usually) but in pretty much any nightmare that I have, I have the same problem of not being able to properly speak or move.

      Thanks!

This is very interesting... - Bees & Wasps actually do mean {Fear} - So you rather have a Sting fear :3 - Be honest who doesn't?
Or the bees could mean peace and the wasps could mean hell.
As strange as it sounds; it is very interesting how you keep dreaming about possessions.

Now maybe there is a hidden meaning; like you feel that you would love to possess someone.
Most likely a girl; in many cases it is...

however, sometimes your afraid and sometimes your not afraid - This links up to Peace & Hell.
Interesting, now that we think of it.

Wasps: Can Sting As Many Times As They Want.
Bees: Often don't sting - Least feared...

      Interesting :3

Ok, you like horror movies and the horror movies cause nightmares that are similar to the horror movies content. Even though I like dream interpretation, but personally I would not look for a deeper meaning in this case, unless you want to delve into the why you like horror movies so much in the first place. It is a clear cause and effect I think, the movies you watch feed your imagination, but what is entertaining during the day when it is clearly separate from you, is scary at night when you are part of it.

Being unable to move and speak means among other things that you are not in control. You are helpless against your nightmares.

I think it is time you took some control. First of all, I would strongly suggest not watching horror for a while and finding another genre you like, and see whether this stops your nightmares. Second whenever you have such a nightmare when you wake up, go over the plot and imagine a different outcome, imagine how the dream would have gone if you had been able to move and speak. Also before going to sleep spend some time imagining a plot of a dream that you would enjoy having. In addition, tell yourself firmly that whenever someone is possessed by a demon and/or you cannot move or speak you will realize that this is just a dream because this does not happen in waking life. If you do become lucid and aware of dream state, remember that you can move and speak after all, that your lack of ability to do so was just an illusion meant to scare you created by your own mind, and then confront your dream demons - do not run away, be firm, assertive, in control, and aware. Go through your waking life looking out for any elements that possibly remind you of horror movies, and when you find any ask yourself seriously whether you are likely dreaming. Be aware of your thoughts and feelings and look especially for any thoughts of fear and helplessness, and if you find any, remind yourself that you are in control, that you can change your outlook and act and speak up.

I'm not really looking for advice on how to stop these dreams or why I have them - they don't occur often enough to be a real problem and I understand why the content likely is what it is. I'm mostly just looking for some insight into the meaning of why I can't speak and why my movement is so labored in these dreams. Does it probably mean that I just don't feel like I'm in control of my life? Or does anyone have another suggestion?

      Thanks.

Well what do you feel like in normal life? if you dont feel any problem then the dreams likely dont mean anything.
