Kristy, First of all with all that is hormonally going on in one's body when one is pregnant plus all the anxiety of expectant parenthood, it is perfectly normal to have some of the most bizarre dreams one ever has in one's life while pregnant, and it does not mean that anything is wrong. I remember I had a dream that I gave birth in a public restroom when I was pregnant with one of my boys! And in reality everything went well with both of my boys' births. It is normal to worry / be anxious about giving birth. Most of your worries are just the usual fare of worries in pregnancy: will my baby be breach? (some babies are, but most are not, and this dream is just reflecting your worry about this) will everyone who needs to be there be there when needed (ex: midwife)? Usually everyone you need manages to be there at the birth, but it is normal to worry about that. Will the environment I give birth to be sterile or clean enough? That's I think the worry that causes the puppy to be there. (If you are worried about that, usually giving birth in a hospital ensures the highest level of sterile/clean environment, but even in a home birth as long as you take the recommended precautions it will be fine.) will my loved ones be there for me? I think your grandfather in your dream just represents the reassuring presence of a loved family member. Your stepfather being there and helping may be a desire for help and reconciliation with any family members during a time when you will need any help you can get. Why is the baby a boy in your dream when you are expecting a girl in reality? You know while ultrasound technology has come a long way, there is no absolute guarantee of a baby's gender until it pops out and gender can be confirmed for sure. While most likely you are going to have a girl, but it is still possible it will be a boy, and I think your dream is reminding you of that. Or alternatively it could be a what if it were a boy type dream, or your mind thinking ahead that maybe some other time you will still have a boy, or it could be just that your dreaming brain is confused about the gender - we don't always have access to all our waking memories while dreaming. Anyway I think if you surveyed all pregnant women, you would find that your dreams are typical pregnancy dreams, and nothing to worry about. |
