The weirdest dream ever. What does this possibly mean

Ok well im 18 years old and i've been having a certain type of dream every once in awhile. Usually when i wake up from this dream i'm literally shaking and terrified over something that would not scare me at all normally, and i think back to it later and it is one of the most stupidest thoughts ever. I use to pretty much be crying as a younger kid when i had this dream and i would run into my parents room being terrified. I might have this dream a couple times a year, but every time i have this dream it is slightly different in some type of way, but is still similar enough to all the other dreams i have like it. I really have no way to even try to explain it, as i cannot remember the dream when i wake up because i can hardly even describe what is possibly going on. The only thing i can make from these dreams is that in EVERY dream i'm either trying to get to something/someone or trying to run away from the weirdest thing ever. The dream is honestly like a bad trip.

I will TRY to explain to you some of the dreams I've had like this.

The most recent dream i had of this was a few months ago i believe and all i can remember was some type of spaceship type thing that was launching and i kept trying to get to it, but these weird things kept getting in my way, i have no idea what the things even were, they were something that i've never even seen before, like roots from a tree that kept coming together and blocking the way. And everytime they blocked the way from where i was trying to go i would get terrified, literally terrified and starting to panic in my dream, and it felt as if i was going to die. Then things would get peaceful and i would be extremely content and happy, then it went crazy again. Then that continues over and over until i wake up terrified and it feels like im in a completely different world when i wake up for the first few moments.

Another time that i can slightly remember having a dream like this. In the dream i was trying to chase after something? Like a ball that was bouncing away and i would like finally reach the ball, and when i finally got it everything was all calm, it was like the whole word stops and everything is just perfectly calm, and then seconds later the ball gets away and everything just turns into chaos and it feels like something is blocking my way again or preventing my from doing something (i have no idea what, its not even something real that is blocking my way, its like the most random things ever are stopping me that idek what they are, and its like my whole vision is filled up with lines and i cant see whats really going on) and once again i start freaking out and it feels like im going to die or like the worst thing in the world just happened and i keep trying to chase it again

Another time i remember is i was running in a circle around some what seemed like a horse racing track, and i was trying to what seemed like putting together a math problem. I was trying to solve this (what i think was) a math problem soooo badly. It was like it was the most important thing and i just HAD to do it. i would try to solve it but once again, these random THINGS would stop me, and my whole thought/image would just be crowded with things that i have no idea what they are. And once again it felt like i was having an anxiety attack, i was going crazy and didn't know what to do. But then they would all go away and everything was calm and it was like it was the most peaceful time in the world, but then these crazy things would come back and i would go crazy.

I truly can only remember those three times that i've had this dream. But i have had this dream MANY times over my whole life, and in every dream it's different in one way like the thing im trying to get to, or im trying to do something, or im just doing the most random thing ever. But ALWAYS, at one point in time im so calm and happy, and it's like the best feeling in the world. But then things just start going crazy and i start freaking out in the dream and in my mind im getting terrified. Then i wake up just terrified, over something that isn't scary at all, but in the dream im TERRIFIED.

I have a twin brother that said he also has dreams like this that he can't even explain but gets terrified and is just freaked out. I don't know how to explain this, i've never lost any loved family members really, or never had anything truly terrible happen in my life that would be relating my dreams to that. And i've been having these dreams for almost as long as i can remember. That is all i can really tell you about this because i cant really remember much else. The dream is pretty much like a really bad trip that you really can't explain with words.

Please someone tell me if they also have dreams like this, or can help me in any way as to what this might mean. Thanks.

      1st dream: Inability to escape...

2nd dream: Inability to maintain control

3rd dream: Inability to solve a problem

It just seems like you have some high expectations. The extreme emotional reaction might indicate an exaggerated perception of danger if the expectation is not satisfied.
Also, anything blocking you in dream is almost always yourself. In my opinion, this is because we control our own expectations.
Still, its hard to say which direction this could be coming from or to where it may lead. Perhaps analyze the meaning of the dream imagery. See what it means to you and how it relates to the events of each dream.
      Hope that helps...

      **Thread moved to Dream Interpretation**

Lost of people have dreams like what you describe. It's not abnormal.

It sounds like you are a fairly anxious person. Anxiety can manifest in dreams in weird ways. You mention the calm that appears once an issue is resolved or the influences that cause you stress disappear.

Perhaps some relaxation time just for yourself would help, though you don't mention any issues that would cause you emotional turmoil. Your writing style, however, suggests a level of anxiety that might be worth thinking about.

Feel free to respond and think about the elements of the dreams and what they might mean to you.

Hey sorry for the long overdue comment, some issues in real life came up rite after I posted this and I just now remembered about this.

What do you mean by "Your writing style, however, suggests a level of anxiety that might be worth thinking about."

And still open to any more suggestions as to what it could possibly mean

I think it is difficult to interpret these dreams, especially as they are so vague. Often when one tries to understand the meaning of a dream, one tries to understand the building blocks of the dream (who are the persons, what are the places, which are the things) and from there interpret the story -- what is it telling me?

In the dreams you are describing there aren't much to work with as a third party, one simply does not understand what is happening, and so the only answer one could suggest would be as vague as the dream. Another challenge is that you have had these dreams since childhood, which means that we sort of loose the reference-points needed for an interpretation, that is, your conscious attitude and current situation in life (because it differs over time).

But one thing which I would take into special consideration is the wave movement from calm and peace, to the chaos and despair; of course I'm reaching here, but is that something you recognize from you childhood, going back and forth from harmony to chaos?

One thing of value one perhaps could suggest, is that you take note of when these dreams occur. Is there a pattern where something in your life triggers these dreams? Whenever you have such a dream, write it down together with notes about your daily life, your emotions and experiences at the time of the dream.

You could also study anxiety dreams, starting out with the Wikipedia article and continue from there, if you haven't already. When you see that this is a common type of dream (for instance, something hinders one from completing a task) it may on the one hand feel better to know that this is common phenomena, and on the other it can be a way to understand why you have these dreams.

This is my thoughts only, hope they are in any way useful; others may have other ideas how to close in on these dreams.
