So I was wondering what this means if anything

Yeah so, the other night I had this really weird dream. Earlier that day I was in a church for a school assignment (I'm not religious) and I thought I would try to ask god for umbrakinesis, just to see what would happen. Anyway, later that night, my dream started with me, a few friends from school, the usual kind, and a bunch of randoms. We had to climb a smooth 10 or so meter cliff face. I felt like I had done it before but I hadn't. When we all got to the top it was midnight and had little to no moonlight. I was just an open plain for about 100 meters then a hill with a barbed wire fence at the top, behind that was just trees and bush with a small clearing and path. I felt nervous, like it was some sort of important test or challenge, but I was also excited. So everyone there started running for the hill, which is when the cars came.

They were big black utes with bull bars and they were just speeding along parallel to the hill. The test was to get overthe fence without being hit. The first few had their headlights on and were easy to dodge. Everyone kept sprinting to the hill. Then the cars came without headlights. It was more difficult but I could sense them in the dark. There was no sound at all, but I sensed them and dodged them. While running, an over weight man was just suddenly mowed down by one not to far in front of me. I managed to make it over the fence and felt that almost everyone else, my friends included made it to. We then started following a path, still sprinting as if it were a race. Soon, I was by myself and came up to a fork in the road that said, boys to the left, girls to the right. As I got to the sign I woke up. I'ma convinced that this dream meant something but I'm not sure what, as if it were the first in a series of dream challenges or something. Any input and knowledge of what it might mean?

Hmm, I am no expert at dream interpretation, but that does indeed sound like it had some meaning.

Climbing a smooth cliff face I guess is about overcoming a very difficult problem. Getting behind the I think fence is a symbol of reaching some kind of goal, and everything between you and it was symbolising some kind of problem that was keeping you from reaching it. Also following a road or a track is, at least in my dreams, a symbol of either a journey or the process of reaching some kind of goal. But why seperate boys from girls? It could be that only boys/girls can reach that goal that the road leads to, or could it be a warning not to allow a person of the opposite sex to distract you from following your path? Hmm, intriguing...

As I said, I am not exactly an expert so this might be fairly obvious things. :/

I dream many dreams every night, but I remember just a few. I wonder what adventures I've had that are now forgotten?

The interpretation by Unbound sounds fairly accurate according to all the books I have read on the subject. There is clearly an obsticle you need to overcome, and a need to separate yourself from destractions as well as apparently several small goals to acheive after you get beyond the major obsticle. The path is future events that you are not ready to deal with as of yet including not letting relationships (romantic/ or otherwise) destract you. The fact that you need to focus on your particular objective and aren't certain yet if you can (my guess) is why you woke up.

I am wondering whether the two separate paths could be about gender roles? The challenge you need to overcome could be a metaphor for life. Life is getting serious for you, and gender roles may play an issue. Of course you woke up right after seeing the sign, so you did not decide whether or not to follow traditional gender roles. More and more people in modern society choose to break traditional gender roles: fathers staying home and taking care of kids for example, but there are also many times when breaking gender roles may be a bad idea and perhaps too much of a challenge - for example: I am working full time, a wife, and a mother, and yes there are times when I think that is too much that the traditional gender role for a woman was easier in many ways and allowed a woman to focus on family in a better way. Sometimes I have to make choices that I do not like, such as not attending a school event of my kids because I have to work, or being too tired to enjoy free time with my kids. I do not know if this applies to you in any way? The fact that you are at a crossroads with these signs may be because you can still decide whether to follow traditional gender roles or not?

This also reminds me of an exhibit I once went to in a museum. It was about racism and segregation in American history, and one thing that made quite an impact on me was that between two rooms of this museum exhibit there were two doors, one labeled "colored" and the other "white", and these were the only two possible doors to get to the next room, so I had to choose which door to take. I chose to take the "colored" door, even though I am white, as a symbolic gesture of defiance to racism and segregation.

Similarly you could choose the gender role that is unexpected, but what is unexpected may well turn out to be the more traditional - if you are a young person and you expected yourself to break with tradition perhaps you will reconsider. Being at a crossroad means that you can choose which path to take. And that is a good position to be in because you can choose the path that is right for you.
You may say I'm a dreamer.

I have not done this for a long time but I will take a stab.

The friends from school to me tends to be very representative of ours peers and social status, or how we view ourselves socially, my experience is from adolescents this tends to stick into later life but it appears you are actually in this period of your life? It also seems from this dream that you are doing pretty well at this time of your life? Because the important challenge could simply be this time of your life, academically and socially, being nervous but also excited about it, getting up the cliff, dodging the cars with good sense, getting over the fence all seem good signs of moving forward to me, and at good pace; maybe along with all your friends as well?

The overweight man I am not sure, could be something you fear of becoming? Could represent fear of failure and being left behind. Not sure I could add anything on the crossroads as well, this to me could represent all manner of choices, especially if your are currently considering further education, career or relationships.

What were you feeling for the overweight man or at the crossroads? I tend to think how you feel in different moments in dreams is more important than any symbolism.

This dream happening after your school assignment at the church and asking for umbrakinesis is also interesting, then the fact that you come here and post about it, how many people your age would bother with such a thing? Could be a sign to take more notice spiritually.

well yes I am a teenager at the moment, and as for my feeling during the dream, when the overweight man was hit, the suddenness of it kinda stuck with me, with a bit of shock. when I got over the fence and was going to the crossroads, I just felt like I had to get there as fast as I could, and I was starting to lean towards the male path, probably because I am a male maybe? there was also a kind of feeling that I was being dragged towards the opposite path, the female one, but I was trying to go down the male path. I was also getting the feeling of being pursued, I recall now that in the dream, as I got over the fence, a motorbike rider jumped the fence and started riding towards the crossroads as I started to move towards it and I got the feeling more were coming. I felt that I had to get to the end of wherever the paths were going as soon as I could, but unfortunately I woke up as I was about to go down the male path.

Do not think leaning towards the male path has anything to do with being a male, you can not look at it, or dreams in general for that matter in practical terms, likely more to do with male and female energies within the self, within the psyche; of course it is only natural at your age to lean towards male energies, do guy stuff and avoid being feminine in anyway. I do not know where you live but I grew up in country Vic and the blokey/macho culture was pretty bad there, still is. People can spend so much time and effort into trying to show they are a man, be one of the boys day in day out which can all too easy detach one from seeing the basic beauties of life, simply being nice over being confrontational and possibly making relations with the opposite sex difficult.

Seems the dream was trying to show you which direction you want to run to fast and where you do not want to be dragged? I get the feeling it was just trying to show you to be more balanced, to not force trying to be a guy. Of course easier said than done, we spend our whole lives trying to prove we are a man and fit in with our make peers; the problem all too often is everyone around you can be trying to do this and not actually being themselves.

Hope I have not over analysed that, got a bit carried away
