Thread: Weird dream about spirits/demons

Hello! This is my first post here. I joined because I wanted to get some input on a really weird dream I had last night.

When the dream started, I was immediately aware of what was going on. I was also aware that I was dreaming, and had some ability to change what was happening in the dream. I knew that I was trapped in some sort of dream world where a random selection of sleeping people would go. I knew that this happened about once per year. There were dozens of people everywhere of all ages. Mothers were there with children, people who didn't speak English were there, and there were many dozens of others. All of them understood where we were and what was happening. My parents were there, but I couldn't find anyone else from my family.

We were all aware of the fact that demonic beings would be coming within a few minutes. We would be moved to simulated versions of our houses. Once we were there, we would need to stay very still and pretend to be asleep. We knew that the demons fed off our fear, and if we opened our eyes to look at them, they would steal our souls. Obviously, once I was transported to my house, I was very scared. There was a countdown to when the demons would come stuck in my mind. I tried praying, but I immediately realized that that wouldn't do anything, which made me more afraid.

Eventually, the countdown finished and I heard a terrible high pitched scream. The scream made everyone besides me freeze up. The demons looked like swirling blackness, with something vaguely resembling glowing eyes. The sight of them made me terribly afraid. I saw several people being taken by the demons in my mind. As I watched the demons enter another house, one popped up in front of me and saw that I was awake. I realized that if I woke up, I could escape. I don't remember much after this.

After some time passed, I found myself watching a mother and her three children. She was desperately trying to quiet down her children as the demons entered her house. Her two older children went quiet, but her newborn baby kept screaming. A demon came into the room and surrounded her baby. As this happened, I also felt myself being surrounded by darkness.

After some more time, I found myself in a nondescript room with the possessed baby. The baby was staring at me, wide-eyed. I asked in my mind, "why did you do this? Why are you taking us?" The baby stood up and began talking to me. He explained that the demons aren't really evil. They're otherworldly beings, not really from our reality. Their only opportunity to learn about us is to temporarily lock our energy away and replace it with theirs. I had an image of the crying baby in leather restraints and surrounded by some sort of blue energy. The baby explained that each being waited the equivalent of many lifetimes to get a chance to possess a human. He explained that they communicate with us better when we're afraid. He told me that they had been known by a variety of names through the ages...demons, fairies, gods. I then asked if I was going to be "replaced". The baby explained that I was the only one who was aware enough to try waking up, and so they decided to set me free. He explained that I had had the dream multiple times before, and that the memories would now be available to me...and, in fact, I now clearly remember having a similar dream at least two other times. He said that I was shown the baby because the baby will be someone I'll know in the future, but I will not initially realize it. I was then told that I would be allowed to wake up. Shortly after, I woke up with a start.

Has anyone ever had a dream like this? Does anyone know what any of this means?
