This hotel is keep recurring in my dream

This huge, luxerious-looking hotel repeatedly appeared in my dream four times during the past few months. I've heard that recurring place in your dream represents your sub-conciousness or something, so I am wondering why I am keep dreaming about this place. I have never actually seen the hotel that appeared in my dream, yet the memory was so vivid and I clearly realized that I was in the same hotel again after waking up from each dream. However, during the dream, I natually assume that I am having family vacation and never raise a question about why I am in the same hotel again.

On the first floor of the hotel, there was a large entrance hall with a big fountain in the centre. Behind the fountain were two stairs leading to the second floor balcony. The hall's walls and floors were made of marbles. There was also a fancy looking elevator. Like ordinary hotel, the place seemed lively with many visitors moving around the hall. For the first dream, I mindlessly took the fancy elevator, got off at the second floor, and walked down the stairs from the second floor balcony. I woke up when I was about to exit the hotel through the entrance.

The weirdest part occured during the second dream. I found this small, silver, and metallic door on the far right side of the entrance hall. I was curious, so I peeked through the door by opening it little. What I found was the huge space surrounded by walls. Two of the walls had countless tiny windows on them. Although the place was pitch-dark, yellow light coming out from each window lighted the place enough to make me barely see what was there. Some people, looking like black shadowy human figures, were standing by the window. There was also black, metal staircase that seemd to stretch all the way to the endless top. Several homeless-looking people were lying or sitting on the dusty, concrete floor. Unlike the entrance hall, the place was silent and gloomy. After finding the place scary and weird, I slowly closed the door. I woke up as I was closing the door.

To the left side of the entrance hall was glass doors. Behind the glass doors, there were two to three metallic silver elevators and one staircase that seems to lead to other floors in the hotel. The walls and floors seemed to be made of grey granite. Many people were waiting in front of those elevators to go upstairs. For the third dream, I was getting off from the silver elevators with my dad. Suddenly, the police or security guards were running towards us, so without hesitation, we ran across the entrance hall towards the hotel entrance. I woke as I reached the exit. Few days before this dream, when me and my family were returning from holiday vacation, airport customs mistook our family as illegal immigrants and interrogated us for hours That might be the cause?

In my fourth dream, I was actually outside the hotel. I never saw the outside of the hotel in the past dreams, but I could somehow feel that it was the same hotel after waking up. The hotel building was an ordinary looking building. A wide, rectangular, orange building with many windows. There was also another same looking building on the right side of the hotel. Behind the hotel was a tall coniferous mountain with snowy peak. There was a ski lift that carries visitors between the hotel and the peak. During the fourth dream, I took the ski lift up to the peak with my family, walked around the peak while happily chatting with them, and woke up as I was returning back to the hotel on the lift.

What can this mean? My family (Dad, Mom, Brother) keep appears too, but I don't recall recently having any problem or special incident with them beside the airport incident. Or my school GPA didn't come out good last June, so me feeling really sorry to my parents have something to do with this? Thank you so much and terribly sorry for making you read this super long thread!

Well, the thing about dream interpretation is that only you can really tell what it means to you.

That said, houses usually relate to you. I'm not sure what a hotel could mean... it's LIKE a house, you sleep, eat, do things there, but it's not HOME, you know?

It's interesting that it's so nice, comfy and fancy, though. Maybe, and this is a huge IF, it could mean that you're comfortable now with your life and with your family, but somewhere in your subconscious you are worried (or maybe just aware) that this is now, and soon you'll be on your own (into/out of college?) and this is your way of getting ready for it?

As in, luxurious hotel is life with parents. Comfortable, but not forever. Next step of life might not be as luxurious (which is where your GPA could be affecting the dream), but it'll be your own place - your home.

Just some food for thought? Whatever it means, a fancy hotel sounds like a nice place to hang out in dreams!

I'd say that you're dreaming about opulence and luxury, az. For the most part, the hotel itself sounds like an escape from the waking world because you're stressed out. Definitely enjoy it!

You may also have started dreaming about this hotel in anticipation of your vacation, depending on the timing. In our dreams, we often think up a structure that represents a place we're going or have briefly been, rather than dreaming up the place itself, which might not have stuck very well in our minds.

As for your waking misadventure with airport customs, I'm really sorry to hear that happened to you. I definitely wouldn't be surprised if your brain was processing the experience through your dreams (especially that particular one.)

I pick up a half-eaten copy of a book by Neil Gaiman, and decide this is all his fault.
