      This One is kinda Graphic!

Last night I had a dream where my lower genitals (I'm female) were severed (i forgot how, but it was a clean cut, no blood or gore) and then I carried them around in a small zip-lock bag for the rest of the dream.

In the dream I was not outraged or depressed by this. I kinda felt indifferent. I remember feeling at first like I wouldn't miss them (my private parts) but as the dream progressed I started to wish they were still intact. In the end, I was really relieved to find out I was only dreaming!

So what could this all mean? Anybody?

      Jeez. I'm stumped.
You do this every fucking time.
      No sweat.
      No tears.
      No guilt.
You do this every fucking time.

Freudian analysis would be key for this sort of dream.

Freud absolutely loved dreams like this. Take a look at it, and determine what it could possibly mean for you. Obviously first and foremost, your sexuality is involved. Your libido, drive/need for sex has been safely sequestered away in a little baggie.

Note the fact that you carried the bag with you..a ziploc no less. It means that you're not rejecting your sexual being, but there is a 'seperation' from it...the ziploc means that it is safely preserved. If you'd thrown it away, or if your parts were in, say, a garbage can, then that'd be a different interpretation altogether.

The fact that you missed being a whole person at the end of your dream addresses the anxiety you have about your sexuality. This detachment is probably the source of it. In waking life, you're probably going through some minor issues of attraction/attractiveness and who you are as a sexual being. That's totally healthy, and nothing to be worried about. All things said, your dream was actually positive, though it seems morbid.

-You realize that you need your sexuality to be whole
-You didn't reject the parts of yourself that were the source of your anxiety
-There was no pain/blood, leading me to speculate that though you carried parts of yourself in a baggie, there was ultimately no real sense of seperation

Well, they say that dreams are based on a collaboration of events taken throughout the day in our waking lives. Were your genitalia severed at any point in the day?

Start with your feelings - indifference then loss. Is this the sequence of feelings you have when you lose something valuable?

As for "why the genitals" I think Oedipud's explanation is at least as good as anything I could come up with. Although I'd add the footnote - it depends entirely on what meaning you place on the genitals.

Well yes freud did love getting the ****'s out. Not certain that he knew anything about dreams.

Well i am assuming that you are male since the dream would not make so much sense. Sometimes male sexuality is a bit of a burden. It gets in the way of us pursuining a certain lifestyle. We cannot express our feminine sides as easily. Was there a point during the previous day when you felt that you wanted to be sympathetic or wanted to talk though things. Yet base sexual urges, or male arrogance, or male lack of communication etc got in the way. Sometimes in ouselves we want to be so much more than the man that we is. We try but we cannot escape what we are. It catches up. We try to be what we think we should be then we eventually realise that we need to be what we actually are.

      ------------------------
It is true that many dream symbols can have very personal meanings that only the dreamer could possibly connect to. For instance your sister may appear in a dream as an example of someone who interferes constantly in everything that you do. Yet a symbol may easily appear in a very standard sense. In a general and standard sense sisters link to a willingness to share opinions and to talk openly. Your dream may use a sister in that sense. It is equally true that a sister may appear just as themselves. The dream may then connect with some issue that involves them either directly or indirectly. The trick is then to keep an open mind and explore every possibility.
