using voice to speech software for dream journaling

I just made a post in the lounge the other day talking about voice recognition software... and I realized that it would be perfect for a dream journal. It makes mistakes, but if you are just reading off something that doesn't necessarily need to be punctuated well and can have silly mistakes (you might have to go back and change some mistakes that the software made for better understanding later), it's perfect.

Some people use a tape recorder, but for me the problem with that is how impossibly tedious it would be to review my dreams later... I have stopped dream journalling because of how tedious it is typing it out, and I think this is a great way to get started again because of how quickly it would all be done and how much detail I could put in. I'm gonna try this tommorrow, I'll tell yall how it goes.

Now this is interesting!! Is it good enough to know when to put, say, three periods together or like these things ( ) ? (Yeah can't think of very many words right now. )

      Edit: Parentheses!

Edit edit: Sounds like a Greek guy's name.

The three periods are called "ellipses" btw
It can't do that because if you think about it how many people would be able to really tell when someone, speaking, would have used ellipses or paranthesis if they were typing? But you can say it and make it do that. You say "I went to the store open parenthesis which was awesome by the way close paranthesis because I was hungry dot dot dot" for "I went to the store (which was awesome by the way) because I was hungry..."

but I'm not the probably do complicated stuff like that because the entire point of using it is to get it done quickly

Not a bad idea. It would certainly save time an make things easier.

I wonder if you could leave it on to see if you talk in your sleep. I know my brother used to do that.

Anyone know any good software for the job?

If you just need it for that, perhaps you could just get a regular voice recorder. The more I think about this, the more I want to record myself talking in my sleep. Now that would be interesting. It'd be funny to keep a log of that in your DJ.

I was thinking more of rambling off a quick description of my dreams and then having the majority of it already typed out for me in the morning.

the reason that using an voice recognition software would be better than using an ordinary microphone or voice recorder and seeing if you sleep.would be that in using a voice recognition software You can play back, what is typed out so even if it is a mistake. You could hear what you actually said, and also you do not have to listen to eight and a half hours of blank tape

Great idea. Now my question: is there voice recognition software that is good enough? I'm not going to rewrite every sentence, might as well just type it up then.
How I discover what my dreams are about

In my last lucid dream I made pink sparks between my palms. I was trying to make a white ball of energy...

well check out my dream journal:http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=45730.

I made very few revisions, and you can kind of tell that there are a few mistakes, but it i definitely good enough to understand

The trick is that you have to train it a lot, because as you continue training it gets better and better

If you want your dream journal to be perfect. You have to be spent a long time training the software or you can just type it

I feel like I'm the only one around that actually likes writing on paper anymore. o.o

I mean...I type swiftly and prefer typing, sure, but considering all the typing most people do nowadays in the IT era, I think that makes writing all the more...interesting, heh.

There's something about recording on paper that still has me hooked...it's the authentic way I guess, but I think this new speech recognition thing could help me get alot more down...and alot more dreams recorded..though some of it would be nearly incomprehensible with all "oh"'s and "uh's"...

Hermm..sound like a good idea...but I don't know if i'll be able to put down the pen

the speech recognition software has a special component that removes all "oh's/ums/uhs" etc.

but yeah, you definitely get a lot more done
