      Post Joanna's Dream Journal

In this dream journal I will make notes on dreams I've had (well there's a surprise...); should you have questions/remarks, please feel free to contact me.

Short recap of (recent) dreams I really want to remember at this point:

Detailed 'house' dreams - I've had several dreams in which I was exploring a house. Usually these houses are rather large, and have many secluded (though not inaccessible) corners, extensive nets of long corridors, and, weirdly, always at least a couple of bedrooms, instead of just one. In the most recent dream of this kind, one side of the house (I believe it was mostly one floor) was made of huge glass panes, which offered a magnificent view of the ocean, and many stars that shone above it.

Dreams in which a connection was made between someone I know, and something else - e.g. sharks, gypsies, children. Upon checking with the particular persons in waking life, the connections proved to be 'real', and the people are usually quite surprised as to how I could know this, since they hadn't told anyone (or me, anyway).

Dreams in which I meet people who have special meaning for me. These dreams often have a different 'feel' to it; I can actually touch things, sense them, taste or smell them. In the most recent one I met Dorian, a friend of mine; we met on a lawn and had a conversation beneath the stars (again, those stars...). For some reason I knew I was dreaming, and as soon as he touched my hand I realised I could actually feel that and it was another 'real' dream (which I love to have, by the way).

It is my intention to update this journal with more specific dreams - so, to be continued.

You've already made a good commitment to recording your dreams! I'll be looking periodically, keep it up, sounds like you've got a good plan for this. It's always entertaining to see what someone else's head comes up with...makes for good reading .

Thank you, Bro - I totally agree with you!

There's another dream, but from much longer ago, that I would like to record here. Actually, I only remember one thing about the dream, because it was the first time it ever happened to me - I encountered someone I did not like, and told him: "What are you doing in my dream? Go away." To my utter amazement, he turned around and left. I have never seen him again.

Ok - I've checked with the person that I had the lawn-and-stars dream about (couldn't contain my curiosity, had to ask him). He couldn't confirm that he'd had a similar dream, but he did love the imagery as I described it to him. Obviously, I didn't go into detail regarding what happened next, between the two of us - he asked me several times to confirm that nothing unpleasant happened to him in the dream, to which I replied 'no...'. But then left it at that *lol* I can be a bit of a tease sometimes, be warned... haha!

Another dream-that-wasn't-quite-a-dream, also from a little while back:

I was in a very spacious room, together with several other people, and... others. The furniture was huge; actually, the entire place looked several sizes too big for normal shaped human beings. It reminded me of being a small child.
The others were our hosts, I suppose - they were much larger than us, but strangely, I wasn't afraid at all, despite my feeling so very small. I felt that we had been invited, we were their guests, and we were very welcome.
We were each helped to climb into enormous resting chairs; I sat with my legs stretched before me, and my feet dangled just beyond the rim of the cushion I was sitting on.
We were then given a pile of materials (all sorts of paper, wood, linnen, anything you can write on) with words printed on them. These were "answers" - but since they were personal, we couldn't read each other's words, not even if we held them up for the others to see.
I distinctly remember one of my answers was printed in gold...

That last dream sounds really quite surreal...almost like a storybook...I guess if you wanted you could interpret it in many different ways. The "answers" bit of the dream sounded really amazing, very unique...colorful and meanifngful. Now go back and find your "answer"!...(While your at it, ask the big folks why we're here)

Yes... it was. Well, actually I did get my answer. In fact, I got many (read all the words that were in the pile), but upon waking only remembered the one printed in gold... I knew, at that point in time anyway, that it was the most important answer, perhaps the very reason I got that dream.
I'll try and go back - or perhaps I should ask to be invited again. The big folks were certainly very kind and gentle, I would love to visit them again... I felt absolutely safe with them, and taken care of.

Which reminds me of another amazing nocturnal journey - again, someone 'big' was with me. I'm not sure he (or 'she'? I think 'he') was really big, but I mean, he was powerful and confident, and I felt well-protected (though the atmosphere was good, no danger to be sensed anywhere near).
Anyway, I was led onto a huge flight of stairs, which sometimes ascended so slightly that it resembled a road, rather than a flight of stairs. Nevertheless, I quickly had the impression that we were very high above ground level - although it didn't feel like we were up in the air. It's difficult to explain. We simply went to another... plane of existence, perhaps. After what seemed only a few minutes' journey, we arrived at a structure as big as a city or even an entire world - although it wasn't a city like any here on Earth. It seemed constructed of light, mainly white, cream, salmon, light sand and coral hues, of every imaginable shade.
My companion and I stood in front of a huge gate. The doors were wide open (if there were doors, I'm not even sure about that), and I caught a glimpse of what lay behind. It was all brilliance - but not so glaring it hurt your eyes - in every shape you can think of, and thousands more. The doorway filled up with... radiant beings - they were humanoid, but they weren't as solid as you and I. They smiled at us and called out or sang happy greetings, as if being reunited with a long-missed friend, and my guide said: "You can go in if you want, and see the place where you do most of your work when you're here."
I had no clue what he was talking about, but still was very eager to go in and see the sights.
Yet, something stopped me from going in, and I said:
"I can't go in. If I go in, I'm afraid I don't want to go back out. I'm sorry..."
They all smiled, and one of them said:
"No need to be sorry. We understand. But we look forward to seeing you again and having you back with us."

I awoke with the weirdest feeling - weird, but not unpleasant at all.

Don't go into the light just yet! That last dream sounded incredible. Was a good read.

Is it always the same house? I realize the layout may change from dream to dream, but do you ever get the feeling it's the same place despite the glaring differences?

Thank you Why shouldn't I go sight seeing in the magificent city? No harm would come to me, I'm sure of that. Those were friends and relatives of mine, they certainly wouldn't let anything go wrong and guide me back if necessary. I even remember instantly recognising one of them as a late great uncle of mine. Strange... He looked very different, yet I was sure it was him. Without a doubt.

As for the house: it doesn't always look the same, but I must admit that certain aspects are there in every dream. The multiple bedrooms for starters (weird, in these dreams I never seem able to make up my mind about which bedroom I should sleep in...); also, the secluded areas of the house (as said, not inaccessible, but places with much privacy and 'cosiness'), a spacious study filled with books, panels/screens that can be moved to separate one room from the other... The house(s) is/are always vast, and here and there a little mysterious. I once came across some intruders (and I really do mean unwanted guests), but instead of fighting them or chasing them out, I simply let them be and retired to another part of the house, knowing that the others would get lost in the labyrinthine corridors and hallways and give up.

Ok - recently had a dream about having a romantical attachment to an 'alien'... or to a being outside our 3D world, anyway. Not the first time I dreamt that. I wonder what it means...

Had another couple of dreams about houses - or, in this case, apartments (IRL I live in an apartment).

The first one again dealt with the 'multiple living spaces' theme - I had two apartments instead of one, although I mainly lived in one of them (the most familiar one). The other one mainly functioned as a store room (though the two apartments were not next to one another). But as I went to the 'store room', I noticed many useful articles there, very nice pieces of furniture, other items; most of them were of high quality, and as good as new. Also, as I looked out the window, the view was much nicer than that of my regular living space.

The second one, which I got not much later, did not seem to be about multiple living spaces, but I did have one room in that dream apartment filled with all sorts of stored/ignored/forgotten items. Someone close to me helped to tidy it up. Also, I remember there was confusion about one of the other rooms; I'd always thought it was mine, but other people regularly invaded it, and since I wasn't sure if it was really mine to claim, I never dared to.

A little while ago, I had a dream that was not unlike the trip to the 'celestial city', as described in one of the earlier posts.

Again, I was led to what felt like a different dimension, beyond anything that I know here, on Earth. This time, though, the surroundings were less bright, but on purpose; the colours were mostly greens, with soft gold and silver accents - a kind of diffuse lights. I had the impression that I was somewhere in a valley, though the hills around me were not very high. The sky - if it was the sky - was of a velvety black, and millions of stars were showing (ok, this really is a recurring theme...). There were also soft, soothing sounds all around; actually, everything about that place was soothing. I noticed people sitting or lying on the soft ground, as if they were taking a well-earned rest after a long, strenuous journey. Others, who seemed to have some sort of glow about them, tended on them, comforted them, brought them (what looked to me like) food and drink and other things they might need. It looked like some sort of arrival hall... but a very, very comfortable one.
I wandered along, silently absorbing the scene and enjoying it. I didn't see anyone I instantly recognised, although many looked vaguely familiar. After a while, one of the hosts came toward me, smiling, and asked if there was anything he (or she? Can't remember...) could bring me. I couldn't think of anything, I just wanted to be there and watch, as some of the hosts started weaving something that I can only describe as a great pattern of light in the air - like fireworks, but much more refined, more beautiful and nearly soundless but for a soft, musical whisper.

Recently, I've had an unusually chaotic dream - I was in a house, I think, and many people, familiar and unfamiliar, popped up out of nowhere at a disturbing rate. The only one I can actually remember coming in the normal way (the only one I can remember having seen at all, to be honest) is my friend, D. However, he walked straight into the bedroom, which worried me. When I had finally worked up the courage to go see if he was alright (he could be sick, right?), I found him lying in the bed, undressed. He was leaning on an elbow, looked at me with sparkling eyes, and was obviously waiting... for something. I got very nervous all of a sudden and left the room.

And had another dream about D... I can be quite short about it, though: where the previous dreams about him were decent, to some extent, this one was certainly not. I guess you could call it normal, a development and expansion of (romantic/erotic) feelings. Fortunately, this was another dream where I seemed able to use my senses

Ha, did he pat the bed and wink, too? Sounds like these dreams were a lot of fun, anyway. Do you find him attractive in real life? It's always nice to have a wish-fulfillment dream or two. I've been having dreams with similar themes, but I wake up too soon. So, lucky you.

Lol, I was in such a hurry to leave the room that I didn't notice -- but he might have, as it would fit in perfectly with the mood and the body language.

Um... yes, I do find him attractive IRL (I'm embarrassed to admit, as he's not available). But it seems that my efforts to keep things under control are even carried over into my dreams! Sad, really... I think I need to loosen up a bit more when it comes to these things Fortunately, the dream that came after this one (ok, a few nights later) wasn't as restrained

Finally found time to add some new stuff to my DJ.

My dreams have been chaotic lately, due to a lot of inner (and outer) turmoil. Most of them concerned fleeing, haunting places - almost literally like a ghost - and losing people that I like and/or love. Quite distressing, I especially get upset by the latter.

Fortunately, there have also been some good and comforting dreams; a few of them started out scary, but became soothing. In one of these - the one I remember best - I was in a big city that I did not recognise. It was night. Bright lights flashed around me: cars' headlights, commercials, neon lights. I felt a drizzle of rain; it was cold, I did not have a proper coat to keep me warm nor dry, and I was shivering, but not from the cold alone. The folks on the street seemed none too friendly, even hostile and on the prowl.

It became even colder; high above me, but still awfully close, a great, black shadow swept across the sky, dimming the few visible stars and the moon. It vaguely looked liked a bird - it had wings, anyway - but it was enormous. I got really scared, as I felt the big shadowy thing was looking for me. I looked around for a place to hide, but before I could take another step, I felt a presence behind me - or two, to be exact.

I looked over my shoulder and saw a very, very beautiful being. I had the impression it was a man, though not a mortal one (btw, concerning the gender: it may have been a man, or a woman, or both, or neither. It did not seem all that important). The person - for lack of a better word - I saw when I looked over my other shoulder was just as beautiful as the first one, but somehow different, and not just because this one had golden hair instead of raven black, like his companion. They smiled, and I was not frightened any longer; I knew they were my friends, and that the shadow could not come closer to me, let alone harm me. Together, we travelled to a pleasant, safe place, where we could relax and just... be.

NB One thing that greatly puzzled me, even when I was filled with relief and happiness that these two... friends, I suppose?... had come to join me: they were humanoid, and had a normal height for a man, but at the same time they were giants, tall as skyscrapers, as big as, or even bigger than, the dark shadow that was hunting me. They carried me to that safe place in their arms, and I felt like a child again as they did. I still cannot get how it was possible for them to appear of normal height AND tall as a building at the same time. But I suppose that's dream magic...
