      The Fog

What a string of events this weekend.

I became sick the weekend prior to this one. It progressed and got worse.
I live in Ohio near what they call the snow belt. because of the snow generated of the great lakes. And being the wise person I am, I plow snow in the winter.

WHAM. As I have surely coughed up at least one lung, we get nailed with lake effect snow bands that pumbled us with 18" of snow over a two 1/2 day period. In which I only received one to two hours of sleep during that time.
When is was all said and done I was able to sleep an entire day.
During that day, possibly because I had a fever & sleep deprivation I had more dreams than I can count. One after another. Many of which were nightmares. None of which were lucid .

At the end of the weekend I had enough sleep to lead me to this string of lucids.
      Total Lucidity

      The elusive dream girl

Again I had a serious of lucid dreams in a row. And in addition to that they all went back to the same dream.
I was walking around a very large palace. there was much to discover. Every thing seemed real.
The odd thing is was there was a DC that occurred in all three dreams. Well actually you could consider them one.
But I can't understand why it never came to my mind to approach this DC. A girl about my age, slender and reddish hair. I believe this to be in part due to the fact I was trying to help a girl with a very troubling dream. I had been thinking about it before bedtime. damn! I was struggling with any interpretation I was happy with.

There seemed a feeling that something was to be found in this palace. I was repeatedly stopped and awoken. I returned three times.
      I found nothing but questions.
      Maybe next time.

      The too real, RC

Last night I thought I woke up to see my DVD player to display 6:00 AM. I looked at my alarm clock and it said, 5:00 AM.
The TV was on. It was on the weather channel. The DVD has an atomic clock, so I could not figure out how my alarm clock got to 5:00?!
I also rarely fall asleep with the television on. Then it came to mind to do a reality check.

I looked at both clocks. They remained the same. ~Perhaps looking back they should have at least changed by the minute.
The weather station seemed in check as well. talking about storm stories. Rescue off a boat.
I got up to shut the TV of.
I went back to bed, thinking I was awake.

I woke up and both clocks were in concert with one another at 2:30 AM. No TV was on either.
I had in fact been dreaming.

      Finally.

I had a wonderful lucid dream last night. For the most part because it was not SO real with it's content.
I was walking down a path when a grey squirrel came tromping down the path with sunglasses on. (justifying this in my brain) I thought to myself. What dumb ass would have a pet squirrel and dress them up on top of it. In addition to that, let it roam around)
So as I walked, I decided I should turn back before it got dark. On my way back at the entrance of the tree line to the field were two mid evil type dogs made of stone. One had two heads they were going to attach with any doubt. Believe it our not, after those two dream signs I still never realize I was dreaming until I looked past the dogs to see if I could go around them. I noticed then that this was not the same field. I thought, I only took one path. I then questioned if I was dreaming. Having looked back at the rabid dogs it was certain. What was great was it was as if the dogs (though my own creation) were not aware of my awakening. So I ran directly at them, At first they seemed to welcome this as a gift from above until they noticed that I was not bluffing. I ran directly into them as they smashed into thousands of pieces of ruble. I felt victorious.
I flew up into the sky. Taking in all the beautiful fields that surrounded me. I don't remember loosing my lucidity. It must have been quick. But I don't mind. It felt great to fly free again.

      Chicken little

I had one of the craziest ass dreams I have ever had.

I got home from somewhere. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary other than Brooke's sister's car in the drive. The house seemed quite. I heard the shower going. I assumed it was my wife. I went upstairs to see my dad holding what I thought was a baby. The posture the blanket all that. I asked him what's up? He said your wife just went through labor.
As if I was not all that surprised (even though I did not know she was pregnant) I went over to see how she felt. She was quite but tired. I asked how things went, and they went fine. Everything was healthy other than the fact the baby already had a cold.
The funny thing is there was a print out that verbatim matched the personality test that Aquafina had just posted. It said the weight, time of birth, blood pressure and it said a mild fever from the cold.
My dad and I then got into a verbal confrontation. He said, " you expect this baby to stay healthy you better learn to wash your hands more. (In real life I am almost OCD when it comes to washing my hands. ...They just never seem clean enough)
***This is where it gets way off the wall.
      She named her Megan.
I went over to see the baby that my dad was holding. It was a f*^$#!ing baby chicken
It did not even surprise me. I held it and admired it.
****even more strange. We went down stairs and my dad had pointed out a new wall mount (like taxidermy, wild game) And it was a large grotesk chicken with horns?!?!
***** Beyond strange. My father ordered chicken, My wife is a vegetarian so she was not eating. My dad and I were eating like a couple Neanderthals. Two hands grease dripping down are chin...OK to top it all off We were feeding the scraps to no other than, you guessed it the baby chicken.
A freaking baby chicken/human that eats dark meat. Good grief. If i did not already believe I was weird I would be worried.
I would kind of like a rooster though

      Lucidity out of necessity

Last night i was in the middle of a non-lucid dream.
My dog. Who is getting very old has been on my mind because of his age & health.
In the dream I went outside to where he normally digs for moles. What I found was a grave with him in it. It seems that my conscious mind could not except this. With no effort or realization of of it coming on, I became lucid. I was aware. Aware of the entie dream that precluded my lucidity.
As I looked at the grave, I picked up my dog and said you are not dead. Nothing happened. I became livid. (I have struggled with changing characters in my lucids) With conviction I demanded that he return. To my surprise it worked. He acted as though he had just woken up and was groggy.
The lucidity left as quick as it came. As though is was implemented just for this reason.
The non-lucid dream continued fora short time with him & I playing outside. From there on out it was a rather pleasant dream.

      sleep paralysis

I should practice what I preach. As members often claim they get frightened do to sleep paralysis I tell them to ---ride it out. No big deal. Nothing will hurt you. Relax.

Well all that is true. Up until last night my SP only consisted of brief experiences. Maybe one minute.
Last night I had two. They lasted what seemed forever. I told myself all the things I mentioned above. But going on what seemed to be five or more minutes you begin to wonder. You feel like a paraplegic. I must say. It was a little scary. But I am still here.

I tried OBEs while in this state ..... nothing. Actually I tried a lot of things. I think my confidence was shaken.

      A second chance at murder

I have had more nightmares of late than the past three years...

I was in a Native Indian village.
Only the woman new I was there. The atrocities are ones you can only imagine. I don't fell like detailing them.
They seemed to look to me for help. All I could do was watch. I was worthless and helpless.
The main guardian they called him was a huge man.
As I visited several tents I new they were all waiting for him! They did not speak to me. Just looked at me in utter disappear.
The man entered the tent. I was as frightened as them. I picked up a heavy staff & clocked him over the head. Repeatedly. He laughed. Brushed me aside and did what he did.
      I was so frustrated.
As I walked out of the tent saw my friend's dad. I then became aware that I was dreaming.
The dream scene changed. Kevin's father was gone and I was in my house. I heard, upstairs the creaking of the floor. I new it was him. And although I was lucid, I was still scared. He had the power to take my confidence. NO! let me rephrase that. I did not have the will power to maintain my confidence in a realm that hold no boundaries.
At any rate redemption was near.
He was coming down the stairs. I have a wood burning fireplace. To my right I picked up a poker.
      *Graphic content*
As he took a step on the last landing I impaled the poker in his cheek. He again, was a very large man. It obviously hurt him but it put him on the attack. (And now I am hunted in MY lucid dream?!?! Go figure) I beat the shit out of him. But it took time.
Near the end I stuck the poker threw his neck. He could not speak because the air was escaping his esophagus. Although he was about to die I beat him to the point that I woke myself up.
      And there I lay......

      The pill

This was a short and not lucid dream. The most interesting part is now looking back on it. How I could not other wise no
I was in a room. There was me and a man that were going to make this deal. It seemed incognito. The point was if I take the pill I will no longer have to deal with feelings. On the other hand I could die.
I would not think I would ever choose this in real life. I took the pill. I blacked out for a minute and opened my eyes to see the man standing there.
I replied I am not dead. Yes, And did it work? Correct.
The dream only lasted a short time after that. But this has been one of the most intriguing dreams to look back on that I can remember. I did not feel joy for awakening or living. What I said to people had no emotional effect. Simply no feelings
      .

      The take over

I finally caught myself in a ,all to often nightmare, last night.
I was in the middle of a prairie. Coming across the prairie were huge man wood crafted death machines. They were rolling over the countryside. As I was far away, I stood there in fear. This is when the DILD accrued. I realized that it was a dream. As I did the entire scene stopped. I was threatened no more. And I still stood there with a lot of regular conscious thoughts. I thought to myself how cool it was that my mind created this dream scene. And because it was still, like a snapshot, I could convey the scene in quite detail. Next I wonder what time it actually was since it did not seem relevant in the dream. I guessed 7:14 AM.
I willed myself awake, got my barrings, looked at the clock and it was 7:40. Close. I then did an RC.

      I could dunk again

      ahhhhh. How cool it was.
The dream was at some small college somewhere but in the dream I felt as I did when I was in high school and could dunk the basketball.
It almost felt as it was a conscious effort although I was not lucid. Because once I realized I had "hopps" again, I just had fun messing around fast breaking and dunking.
Nothing spectacular but realistic, as it once was. It seemed so real. The comradary and ....sheesh. I am so far removed from it I can't even think of the damn word...Yes> COMPETION!
Everyone needs a little bit to keep them sharp. I think.
I wake up this morning really feeling I need to get back into shape.

      What time is it?

During a recent trip to West Va. I had a very cool FA.
I was experiencing a little time deprivation. I normally am on such a routine schedule that I wake up by my self. As I thought I did this time as well.
It was light out but I really could not gauge what time it was. I guessed around 8:00. I sat up and grabbed my watch on the console next to the bed. It said 7:10. Cool. I am going back to sleep!
I woke up a short time after. I felt that I was not tired any more so I got dressed and when I went to put on my watch it was not there. I then recalled looking at the time earlier, or so I thought.
Turn out that my watch was in the living room.

      excellent

I have neglected to write down my latest string of DILDs.
I was in such a dry spell.
I have been reading a book that focuses on a level of conscious awareness.
I will post a topic in regards to it.

      Last night.
I was in a prison that had a very large court yard. The atmosphere was like a concert. That many people and that crowded. They began to play music. I new in the dream that the song "Die Young", by Alice in chains was going to be played. And sure enough it began. The crowd was docile. I decided to start a mosh pit. (slam dancing) It was very hard for anyone to get to participate. They were all afraid of getting in trouble. So I just started slamming people. Bamb, smash, crack. It was awesome. Thrash or be thrashed it was. Which ironically is another song that is rather fitting.
I ultimately got in trouble. After being reprimanded for trying to ensue a riot, this is where the change over took place. I walked out of the cell and I was back in high school. It seemed serious as a heart attach in the dream. I was walking out of the principles office. A trip a made more often than I would like to admit after getting in trouble. I was looking on all the walls and could not find anything hanging on the wall that pertains to my class or friends. -------------------------I realized I was dreaming. On top of the stares I stood. On top of the world (you know the feeling > lucidity man!!!
I floated down the stares to the library where the librarian ] OK The librarian was that of what I made her. Young, short pleated skirt and hot. As I approached her she fled into the back office. You are not playing that game. I am in control. I opened the door half expecting her not to be there anymore. She was. She responded, I am waiting.
I am going to leave the rest up to your imagination.
I was the naughty boy for a change and damn it! I liked it.
I will no doubt have this dream in my head through out the day.

      A demonic episode

It has been a while since I have written on my online dream journal.
This Lucid dream seemed rather an oddity for me at least. Anyone with comments or suggestions please feel free ~ Thanks

IT began as a WILD. Which that in itslef is rare for me. 95% of my LDs are DILD or hynagogiclally induced.

I was half asleep & partial awake thinking about transplanting hosta plants that I had dug up. As I realized I was drifting off into a sleep like state I told myself to recognize that I am dreaming next time I plant Hostas. So remained the thought of just that. The next thing I realize I was ...planting hostas. Everything seemed real. I did numerous Rcs. Finally the spade shovel I had been using was a digging shovel. BANG . I ma DREAMING BABY!
What would normally be great as most lucid dreams turned out to be very taxing on my brain..even today.

As I turned to look at my surroundings everything was burnt sienna to be exact --Brown.
Even the thick atmosphere had a hue of brownish tint. The aura of something evil was all over me and the dream scape. I am not a religious person for what that counts.
But I know what evil feels like.
What disturbs me is that I have had several other lucid experiences that I am fully aware but am just an active viewer of the dream scene that plays out "it's" role regardless of my efforts.
Members have suggested a lack of confidence that brings about a lack of control. I don't believe this to be true. I have control of myself which in turn you would think would also bring the ability to change my surroundings. Not the case. Any attempt tot do so is quickly thwarted my some obstacle or another. As if the dream was meant to play out as it must.
Very hard to explain. I have tried in detail before and did not receive much in site. ---> http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic....p=233859#233859
Tonight. I am not afraid. I am Confused, Tired. I welcome any experience.
If there is a sign, I am not seeing it.
Who do I ask? There is nothing but a desolate, drab and demonic realm I am caught up in.
Also one in which it takes many efforts to awake from.

      Well ...Any ideas?

maybe you buried too deeply some overwhelming problem, and you "dig it out" with your shovel between the hostas? your mind could have double-crossed with the metaphores...
or might it even be something phisical? i noticed the body has strong ways to manifest its opinion trough dreams...

[nice journal, like your "stile" (can one have a stile in dreaming? )]

      Thank you italianmonkey.
As far as style, I just try to write it how I would explain it to others. One for my own record keeping and two because it is viewable for all the members I try to format it to explain some of the vague details.
But You are right. There can be metaphors but it is very hard to decipher what is relevant and what is not.
One could go crazy over analyzing a dream.

I had an odd lucid dream where the dream characters did not respond to me. You would think this means lack of control. In one sense it was. What was odd was my lucidity was clear and strong yet I could not interact with the DC. Like a mental block.
I was in a long hall way where many people where standing around, none of whom would speak to me. Because of the odd nature of this I performed several other acts to assure I was in fact dreaming.
If this meant something i don't know what it was.

I had the most craziest Hypnopompic hallucination experience I have had to date.
This was around 4 hours into my sleep.

If I were to look up at my ceiling while lying on my back I can see the recessed lighting and a lava lamp and it's light from my peripheral vision.
As I was in a dream like state I was, what I thought, to be looking out my window next to the bed. I could see a light of to the right of me and three vague circles. Because it was so blurry I then questioned my awareness. This led me to the HH. Normally I believe this would have led to a lucid dream.
Instead I realized I was looking at my ceiling. The light in the window was the lava lamp. I then realized I was in sleep paralysis.
I have had this many times before and I find it fascinating. So as I looked up at the ceiling I tried using my peripheral vision to see as much as I could. I then focused on my legs and arms to try and thrash them.
this is where it got different. As I was trying to thrash about I believed I heard my wife (sleeping next to me) say, "Ouch..that one hurt" This made me feel as if I were actually moving and questioned myself. This belief startled me because I thought I was moving and she was aware of the entire process. Believing this I felt like she should or would have awaken me. But was not or could not.
As SP would have it, I of coarse could not vocally talk or use motion.
      I woke up soon after.
I put all the pieces together to configure what happened.
      Sleep paralysis got me again.

What a unique experience for me.
Last year on 10/10/05 my neighbor and one of my best friends along with his good friend died in a plane crash. They collided Midair with another two seated plane. Such a freak accident. All four pilots (from both planes were killed. Three of the four were so meticulous to their Hobie. eeeh ~I could go on... but why.

      My dream:
I was in the back seat of a car that was being driven by Mark and in the passenger seat was Jack, my friend. What was odd is that I new Mark and I liked him a lot. But I had known jack for 28 years! I think of him often. Perhaps that is why in my dream I did not think anything of him being there. I did However begin to question why mark was there. My consciousness began to raise. It was, as it often is hard for me to convince myself I am dreaming. I even said to myself you are not suppose to be here. The dream still took on a lot of non-lucid characteristics. The scene changed to me sitting on a carpet--still in the back seat. I asked Mark if he has heard of Lucid dreaming. He replied I have heard of it. I then said do you know we are in a dream? He said yes I do.
That is when my stubborn conscious let me in to full lucidity.
From there I decided to just enjoy there company. My prior five lucid dreams were very short. I had tried to administer a lot of control in them and I decided to wave from that approach in my next lucid dream. That is what I did.
I conversed with Jack and Mark for some time. I let them do the talking. They were adamant (as I would expect) about the details of the crash. I am not going to go into detail about them. I have already written them down when I woke up so I could retain the details.
It is not uncommon for the FAA to have a VERY lengthy investigation. It is and will be for I suspect another year or so.
I have tried to live out the scenario of the crash in my head hundreds of times. Nothing makes sense. Nothing jives.
*It will be interesting to compare my notes of this detailed dream to that of the results of the investigation when they do finally come out.

      Sleep paralysis.
awoke and was staring at the ceiling fan. I could not move. I tried to make the ceiling fan go in motion...nothing.
So I just waited out the SP and awoke.

Previous to this a spectacular experience -->

I recall the whole dream to my knowledge.
Three men were in a store but I was not in the dream, physical (just watching i guess) They were going to buy a motor cycle. The one man was informed he had just won a dirt bike. He was excited to no suprise.
Then I come in. As me and my friend Kevin took off on these Two Bikes as if we had been there the whole time. We flew through the wall like the Dukes of Hazard.
Then I realize I am riding around with my old boss. * IN real life -One in wich I bought his landscaping company. As agreed in the purchase agreement he was not allowed to do any work in the immediate area that pertains to my line of work. For some reason I felt riding dirt bikes was a breach in our contract. As I was offended, I confronted him. We talked and I reasoned with him. So we went on riding.
This is where I get appauled. Him and I were discussing if you know when you are in a lucid dream or not. We were jumping these bikes about 400 ft. in the air. I said IT IS PRETTY SAFE TO SAY WE ARE LUCID RIGHT NOW! OTHERWISE WE COULD NOT BE JUMPING THIS HIGH! I never became lucid. the dream continued to some more wierd stuff ...but who cares.

Lol, just thinking of 2 people in bikes yelling those things back and forth 400ft in the air makes me laugh.

I say it time and time again. But the brain never ceases to amaze me. I may have had a dream experience last night that gave me some insight to what many members, understandably confuse as lucid. Perhaps it is.

I have had dreams that I have been in the dream and new i was dreaming. But I could only seem to observe.
Others where I have seen myself from a third person perspective.

Last nights dream I was fully aware. (does that mean lucid?)
I was not even in the dream. I was an outside observer. It was a great break from the dream content I have been dealing with. (Here) Even though I had no chance of altering the dream I enjoyed it like a movie.
I was in a class room and many of the people that I went to school with were all playing out odd dream like funny crap. It was great. None of it made sense. But being lucid made it hilarious. Totally ad lib as far as actions go. Which I can appreciate more now than ever.
      Fantastic.
Lucid dreaming does have many variables.

I am not that concerned anymore with pinning a label on what this experience was or that experience. I am just along for the ride. With each new encounter I have I learn a new situation and appreciate that unique condition of my mind.

As if it was a progression from realism to surrealism. My last dream was my minds stepping stone. As IF I could watch but not participate.
But last night I had again a flurry of lucid dreams.
Absolutely awesome! long, clear, vivid and FUN! Dreamlike. It rebounded my interest quite frankly.

      The Dream - Party

It began as a nightmare. I was in a very large house party. The Carma was bad. I did not belong there and I felt it. I walked into the next room and there stood 17 or foot men. Huge. I wanted to wake up. Then I realized..wake up. from what. DUH! I am dreaming! :yumdumdoodledum:
I took the dream by the reigns. I jumped on the huge DC. Just as a cat would jump on something, he was that big. I yelled- Let's Party! The mean spirited DC Drastically changed his demeanor and said, "Hell yaaa. I looked around. Taking in the view, knowing I was in a dream. I tried not to think too much.
I started to dance. I looked at my arms and made them about 15' long (like plastic man) I was jumping around having a blast. In the midst of this party this girl kept making eye contact with me. The rooms were endless. Endless rooms of beautiful people having fun. After about the fourth time the girl approached me. What she said is between me and my DC. Anyway I withdrew from temptation...barely. I decided to shoot up through the roof.

I know was with three other characters that seemed to be clones of myself. I kept flying so fast that I got that roller coaster feeling. There was a lot more content that I don't feel like writing. but it was a blast.
