Staying Lucid: Has anyone ever tried making a visible reminder that you're lucid in a dream?

Say, you managed to attain lucidity and in an effort to stay lucid, you'll make a visible reminder that you are dreaming (e.g. a verbal note). Has anyone ever attempted this, or anything of the like? And does it remain in your dream scene or does it eventually just fades from your sight as you progress into the dream?

Tell me what time it is, say that it's a dream, and embrace me.

Every time im lucid the dream scape changes so I dont think the reminder would be there if you turned around

You would have to constantly look at the reminder to make shure it stays there

But it might just be like that for me so go for it

Ahh yes, that's exactly what I was thinking too. Somehow I'm gradually losing my tact with remaining lucid. Spinning doesn't work, and somehow, no matter how calm I am, I'm still triggering a premature awakening. I hope this works :/

I've come to the practice of RCing as a way to remind myself I'm still dreaming, it helps me a lot when I tend to be sucked by the dream plot. Perhaps you could do something like that. i.e. a wristwatch and look at the time from time to time.

I'm not sure a steady visible reminder is a good idea.

Not only would it tend to be a distraction, as you struggle to maintain the reminder while you're supposed to be enjoying your LD, but it also might be easily "faked" by our obliging dreaming mind: Your unconscious, noting the importance you've attached to a certain image or symbol, will see to it that it appears in lots of your dreams -- as is the nature of expectation. The trouble is, because the image is present regardless of whether or not your waking self-awareness is present, you stand an excellent chance of not being lucid when the image appears, and maintaining that lack of lucidity as your dreaming mind assures you that you're lucid, via the symbol.

I think it might be better to stabilize your dreams with strong self-awareness and memory, and leave the props to the movie makers.

I think it could be because of everything we feel inside a dream has the value of something real until we stop thinking about it as something real, then the dream will fade out.
