      Dream recall tips/tricks/techniques!

First of all, some of these techniques are probably something that a lot of you people are already using.

Before we start, i would like to talk about my own dream recall. I used to have really bad dream recall! I would remember maybe 1 dream in a month if i was lucky! This was before i knew about lucid dreaming. When i started to learn what lucid dreaming was, i really wanted to know how i could increase my dream recall, and with some techniques i am able to remember atleast 1 dream each night! (mostly it's around 3-4 dreams each night)

These techniques are not in detail, but it will give you a picture about what im talking about. If you wish, you could always try to play around with certain techniques.

      1:

The first 'technique' is probably the most important one! It's motivation and Self-Confidence! Without this your dream recall will never be good enough, or atleast not good enough to be really happy about it.. It's very simple, but it's very important at the same time!

      2:

The second technique, is something that all of you probably already are doing. Yep, it's the famous dream journal! This is a key element to start out with! What you are basicly doing with this is telling your mind that remembering your dreams is important to you. If you are lazy, just write some keywords down to start out with. So you atleast know what you where dreaming about.

It's ok if you are a little bit lazy about it, we all have been there, but try to do your best for atleast a while.

This one seemed to help me a lot aswell, it's not really created for dream recall, but it helps you to remember your dreams in more detail. You could play with so many objects in this exercise, but i want you to take a dvd box. Look at it for 10-30 seconds, and try to remember all the little details. Then take a piece of paper, and without looking at the dvd box, write down everything u remember! Even how the box felt in your hands, or what it's made of. Also how harder the object you play with, the better!

This helps you also in real life! I am not sure how it effects your brain in detail, but i imagine it teaches your brain to look more at the little things. If you do this frequently, it should help you dream recall quite a lot! (it sure helped me out!!)

Something that some of you are probably using aswell, it's saying a simple mantra. I won't go into detail, because im sure that all of you know what im talking about. But you could play around with this aswell, and not a lot of people are doing this sadly. You could take a pencil and write on your hand "I will remember my dreams", or something like that. Use your imagination! Try to think a little bit 'outside the box', do some trial and error. You could also use this for lucid dreaming, but that was already pretty obvious.

This is probably not the most 'fun' way, but u could use a alarm clock to wake you up a couple times in the night. This will give you the opportunity to highly increase the chance to remember multiple dreams per night. I would advice to use this technique on free days, and not on work day. It's great help if you just started out with dream recall!

This one im not really using, but you can try it if you want. When you play video games have you ever noticed that you play better if you have competition? Try to compete against a friend, forum member to see who can improve his dream recall the best. This should help you to put your mind more towards dream recall.

Not really a 'technique', but make sure you aren't stressed if you go to sleep. This seems to mess a little bit with your dream recall.

Before you go to sleep try to meditate a little bit. It seems to help for a lot of people! Just try to 'prepare' your mind, even if it's just for a couple minutes.

I will try to update this list, because i am pretty sure that i forgot some of them. Again, a lot of you are already familiair with some of these techniques. All of these helped me out quite a lot, and i hope you will find them usefull. Just remember that dream recall is just practice, it won't be perfect in one night.

      Good luck!

Touching the CD/DVD case is an Awareness technique. It works well. You make tactile connections that can reinforce imagery and the ability to recreate objects in your dream.
