      Strange dream sign

Hi guys, I am new to lucid dreaming (only been keeping a DJ for 3 nights, no LDs yet) and I have an odd reocurring theme in my dreams. First off, I had a small dream (barely more than a fragment) that was just a girl walking round a dark room on fast forward, the dream was either in tunnel vision or I was watching it on a laptop screen & not focusing on anything else. When I woke up to record it, I realised that it looked exactly like my sister's room (but the DC didn't look like my sister). I then fell back to sleep that morning & had another dream, basically about helping my dad with a laptop (I do this quite frequently IRL). The strange thing was, this dream was set in my room!

I recorded no dreams the next night, but the night after (last night), I again recorded nothing but fell back to sleep in the morning & had a dream about me & 2 other people in what I originally thought was a hotel room. A lot more happened in this dream than my previous 2, it actually had some kind of story, but that isn't what's important. This dream got me in several ways, as it was much more vivid than the other 2, the room had an unintrusive red hue that I didn't notice until I woke up (I had been trying to practice colour visualisation with my eyes closed yesterday but had only managed to get red), & also I was writing hiragana, which I am learning & was thinking about as I went back to sleep this morning. I thought about my dream for quite a while this morning & it took me about 20 minutes to realise that the room was identical to my parent's room!

Knowing that all 3 of my dreams so far have been set in rooms in my house, I was planning on trying to use this as a dream sign. However, it is not abnormal like a lot of them seem to be & I enter rooms in my house a lot while awake, so it wouldn't really be a sign that I am dreaming, however I have not noticed any other similarities between my dreams unless you count the fact that the first 2 involved computers, but again I use them a lot IRL. Does anyone know if there is a way to turn this "rooms of my house" recurrence into a useful dream sign? I will try to look to see if I am in a room from my house whenever I enter a room to get myself in the habit, because it took me a long time to make that link this morning. Any ideas appreciated!

Give it a bit more time before you start trying to narrow in on a particular dream sign. Sounds like your recall is increasing which is always an excellent sign, so just work on recall for a couple more days/weeks and see if any other signs surface.

Exactly as Miskingo said, you should wait a little bit before looking for dream signs. Sure, they could be dream signs, but we won't know for certain until you have kept a dream journal for a longer time. Nice job on the recall btw, it took me a lot longer to start remembering my dreams than it has for you. Good luck

What I would do if I were you would be to try for increased awareness whenever you are in those rooms in your house: pay attention, look for details, and don't take them for granted but rather question when something is odd, even if it is a little thing. Also pay attention whenever you move from one room to another: ask yourself whether you remember where you have come from, why, what are you planning to do, and are both the place where you have been and the place where you have come as usual. Even if these rooms will not stay a dream sign for later, these are good metal exercises to develop no matter where and when, but especially somewhere where dreams are more likely.
