      Falling Asleep During Recall

This used to only happen once in a blue moon back when I was in a good rhythm and having more success with LD's and dream recall, but here recently its been happening more frequently. It happened again today so I thought maybe you guys would have some tips.

When my alarm goes off I try to immediately remember as much about my dream activity as possible. I have to close my eyes to get the visual and that's when things go bad. I fall asleep while trying to remember and then I lose everything.

This morning I had a visual and I started back tracking and the next thing I knew it was 5 minutes later and I had lost everything.

I set my alarm across my room, so when I wake I have to actually physically get out of bed. After rubbing my eyes and sitting up for a bit, I can then begin recall. Sitting up is important, as laying down makes it very easy to clock out!

I know that physical activity makes recall harder, however its better to recall fragments then to fall asleep and recall nothing.

I would recommend waking yourself up a little bit before remembering your dreams. Going to the bathroom, holding your breath, and flexing your muscles will wake you up a little bit and make it harder to fall asleep. Not a bad deal if you are falling asleep too easily.

Also waking yourself up without an alarm is an amazing tool for an LDer. I would recommend looking into it, because it wakes you up in a way that you will remember your dreams more, be more awake, and have an easier time falling asleep. Everything works better if you have more sleep.

Moved to Dream signs and Recall.

Another suggestion: have you tried using an alarm ring like some sort of calming music? It would prevent you from falling asleep and still put you in a relaxed mood to focus on your dream recall
