      Working Digital Clock?!

I am very new to attempting to have lucid dreams (4th night of dream journal) and I have read that when you see a digital clock in dreams the time will not be stable. Last night I had a dream where I was driving around and I checked the time and it was perfectly normal...when I woke up I realized I could have had a lucid dream. Ever happend to anyone else?

Ah... you might have misinterpreted what it said. Well, actually, I bet it said it's not stable. But for me it usually shows normal times, but when you look BACK on it after looking away it shows gibberish or a completely different time.

yea, i think its that way for most people you have to look at it more than once

although i think some people just have really good internal clocks that can actually keep accurate time (i dont i lose track of time like a mug) and then their dreams might display the time differently, but im not sure on that one
      Why?

The digital clock thing doesn't work the same way for everyone. I don't recall ever looking at a clock in one of my dreams, but I know that I've seen plenty of people say that clocks appear perfectly normal in their dreams.

      lightswitch

theres a lightswitch technique to turn one on and off, and most people say that the lights stay on/off no matter what. and that lightswitches in dreams dont work. for me, i cant turn lights on or off, unless i believe i cant, or maybe i've done it in a regular dream....cant remember.

but i met someone who has lucid dreams, and they said they could turn their lights on and off, so these techniques will be different for everyone. and by different, i mean there will be exceptions to these techniques where they dont work, or not as well

The only thing you have to keep in mind is expectancy. Expect it to happen and it will. Dream environment is generally not very stable because when you switch attention the mind erases vast information of the environment to give a detailed picture of what youre focusing on. That's the reason why text and clocks change. Just look at it multiple times, each time putting attention on something else for a short bit in between. Expect that it will show something different. This doesnt only work with clocks, it works with everything if you train it correctly in real life. Train to expect things to change and when they change in a dream you will know its a dream. Anything can change.. colors, pictures, people, textx and so on.
