      Hello to everyone

      Lately I have been getting about 10 hours of sleep each night and I have been having trouble recalling my dreams. I keep a dream journal and have been putting in the fragments that I do remember but it seems that my recall has diminished. Do you think it could be because of the increased amount of sleep I have been getting during my summer vacation?

      Personally, I doubt that it can be blamed on too much sleep. The more sleep you get, the longer your REM cycles are, so really you should be dreaming more -- not sure why you're having trouble with the recall part. Personally, my recall (and lucidity) is best when I get 9-10 hours -- but of course that includes at least 30 minutes for a WBTB.

      on the too much sleep part do you feel tired throughout the day. if you do it could be to much sleep .. and is it peacefull sleep like you fall asleep and only wake up once or twice befor you actally get up in the morning or are you restless sleeping waking up alot. befor you actually get up?
      you can't do that on the internet!.... wait yes you can do it again!

      HELLO SolarDreamer!!

      That sounds contradicting but it is true. If you get more sleep than your body requires you can feel more tired through out the day than if you get the "correct" amount of sleep.

      It seems to me that our bodies require time to adjust when anything is changed. Do to the fact you are getting more sleep than you had before, maybe your body will adjust and so to will your dream recall.
      Regardless, I would keep up with journal entries & hopefully your recall will keep up with you.

      If you sleep for 10+ hours you may make a deal with your body - use the following line of thought - first 3-6 hours are for the body, rest are for entertainment. This worked for me quite well - first half of the night was restful sleep, second half was devoted to techniques and dreams.

      Thank all of you for your replies my recall has come back with a bang I guess it was just a few days of bad recall but lately I have had some pretty intense and vivid dreams. I only wake up about two times a night and some times I sleep all the way through (if i dont set an alarm for WBTBs); however I do like what Ev had to say. I think thats a great suggestion and will put that into effect. Thanks again for all the help.

      I was just typing a post stating that WBTB stands for Wake Back To Bed and include a link to the tutorial, but it seems that if you want to be helpful on these forums, you gotta be fast!
