In my entire life, I have only remembered one dream. It was a recurring dream that just recently stopped for some reason, or I've just stopped remembering it. Either way, I have been trying and trying to attain lucidity, but cant even begin until I get Dream Recall down. I have been trying (and not trying...) for months to remember just ONE dream, but I have had no luck. I tried a Dream Journal, but I don't remember anything to write down. I've tryed drinking LOTS of water so I'll wake up... nothing. Tryed setting my clock for a REM period (then also took into consideration the time it takes me to start falling asleep), nadda. I tryed Subliminal messeging and Hypnosis. I cant use those because my mind is too strong and realizes whats going on, weather I know up front or have forgotten, my subconscious and active mind knows. So out of all these many methods, I have no been able to remember a single dream.... HELP!

For recall that subborn, try posting in the "Help" part of this forum. The only people that are allowed to answer in there are the staff and other approved members. They are all well schooled in lucid dreaming, and you will always get an answer.

That is strange.
I would not normally have recall, but as long as i get enough sleep and want it to happen it usually works.

You could try telling yourself that when you wake up you will remember at least 1 dream.
Do you know where you are?

Try that too. No luck. My recall just wont work for some reason and I dont understand why. I can remember ANYTHING in the real world perfectly... I remember people from when I was 2 that I only met once, like when I was 2 some other woman was talking to my mother when we were in the elevator. Dreams, No luck. Only dream I've remember can be found here

Sometimes oversleeping can help you catch a dream. Like on the weekends, I'll wake up after about 7 to 8 hrs, ill lay there and just try to back to sleep. This repeats a bunch of times each sleep period getting shorter but still having dreams. That's where most of my dreams in my DJ come from because if you wake up in the middle of it or right at the end it's usually easier to recall.

Have you tried B6 and stuff like that?

I was hoping to give B6 a try sometime soon, seems to be my only option as I have tryed sleeping in... and waking early. Nothing seems to work. Does B6 help recall? I thought it was only for dream vividness?

Well, I figure the more vivid, the easier to remember. Have you also tried those memory herbs or whatever like ginseng?

you need to start BELIEVING that you can have regular dreams. if you always have a nagging feeling that you can't remember dreams. nothing will help you. you have to re-examine your beliefs in what you can accomplish.

Nope, no nagging feeling. I do believe I can have them, its just not happening. Im losing belief lately, but I've believed it for a long time, and just figured it would take work, patience and time. Its been a looong time and no luck.

Sorry you've been having so much trouble.

Aside from keeping a journal (maybe just of sleep-related things since you aren't recalling well right now), reaffirming recalling to yourself before going to sleep, reading about dream-related material before bed, setting alarms, and drinking plenty of water, this is the only other thing I can think of for you to try:
When you wake up, don't move or open your eyes. Stay completely still and concentrate on what you were just thinking. Pay attention to any images you see, or feelings you get. After you've remembered everything you can, quickly grab your journal and scribble it down - it can be anything, a keyword, sentence, feeling, or even a drawing. Get something down on paper.

Good luck and know that you will start recalling your dreams soon.

Im going to be trying B6 soon, I have a thread on that on the page too, so any thoughts on that would be much appreciated.

True, just fully expect to recall your dreams, the more you say you have trouble recalling the harder it will be, it isn't that hard, just say I will recall almost all my dreams without a doubt, and try to tell yourself to wake up as many times as possible during the night, and that you will be fully conscouise everytime you wake up, so you will remember to wright them done (it sounds hard, but the key is to not try so hard).
