      No specific dream sign?

I don't really find any specific dream sign in my dreams. It's more about things not being quite the way they should be. Whether it is a friend I havent seen for a long time showing up in a dream, or the x-men in them, or whatever. I don't really have anything that screams out this is a dream. (well, there was my brain outside of my head one time...) How do I go about looking for dream signs then?

Well you just listed them. A friend you haven't seen for a long time, is a dreamsign of yours. Odd people showing up in dreams- a dreamsign. Abnormal things in dreams usually don't scream out 'this is a dream'. And if it does, then that's a dreamsign.

My dreamsigns for example are seeing people I haven't seen in ages. If I see them, I assume I'm dreaming. A dreamsign is any abnormality that occurs frequently in your dreams. If you keep a dream journal, after a while, just read back on your past dreams and look for similarities. Those are your dreamsigns. Good luck

hmm, that makes sense, but considering the fact that they are never the same in any dream, it makes it hard to focus on something i need to look out for, is probably getting at. Then again, i am still having problems getting my intentions to cross over into my dreams and am just oblivious.

I'm pretty new (I've only had two lucid "moments" and the second was last night), but I've had the same thing happen. Sometimes as a reality check I end up just examining my surroundings to see if they look pretty normal or if it feels like a dream. Unfortunately, that also means that when weird circumstances arise in my waking life it starts seeming like a dream--so maybe it's better to have a concrete reality check.

It's interesting, though, that we don't have to just rely on physical laws being broken to recognize a dream. Sure, you could notice (as happened to me) that your shoes disappeared in thin air from your feet and then reappeared five minutes later. But how cool that we can also just think, "These circumstances seem pretty odd." On one level, I think that demonstrates the significance of the fact that most people automatically accept such circumstances in dreams, and on another level I think it's fascinating that we can have a more subjective set of "rules" for our lives that allows us to pick up on odd circumstances that don't break physical rules (i.e. it's cool that the randomness of, say, going camping with someone you haven't seen in ten years can be enough to step back and recognize a dream). I wonder how odd circumstances have to be for us to question them. Or perhaps it's more a matter of actively forcing ourselves to question them.
"Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we're the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather."

I know most of my dream signs, but my problem is not recognizing them. On the other hand, a simple thing such as a misplaced light triggered my mind to question the reality I was in - which turned out to be a dream
"All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible."

This would never have worked long ago, but here is my best dream sign now. I constantly try to float off the ground. I can not do this in real life (no really?) but I have more or less mastered levitation in dreaming. So at the first hint that anything may be odd I stop and use my skill of floating.I do not have to examine my surroundings or even wonder what is not just right. If I do float off the ground I know I am dreaming and then I am off on another adventure.... Not good advice for a beginner? Try a similar thing you have learned to do, like taking a huge jump (dream like huge-maybe over a car). Try it in real life at least one time a day. While awake you will never leap up on the roof. Build this into your waking life, until it is a silly habit (trying to jump high) then if anything seems the least bit odd try to jump, if you go up on the roof,,, have fun, you are dreaming.
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.
