      Hello! I'm Naiya.

I'm 24 and I'm a student. I first learned about lucid dreaming just over ten years ago. My mom was getting her MA in Psychology and happened to learn about it in one of her classes. She passed on to me a simple relaxation/meditation, basic autosuggestion, and the look-at-your-hands RC. I eventually learned to do a form of MILD on my won and I practiced it every night. By the time I was in high school I had lucid dreams at least once a week, and by the time I graduated I had several every night. Now that I've had stressful college and work, I'm down to only a couple of lucids a night. Using MILD, I can LD at will, but it always depends on how motivated I am.

I used to have SP frequently, and I eventually stumbled upon WILD. I learned to control it on my own, and now I WILD every once in a while.

For me dreaming is often about wish and fantasy fulfillment, but now that I have been doing it for a while, I am seeking more meaningful experiences.

      Connor's introduction

      Your preferred name?
      Connor

      Your age?
      21

      Your occupation (optional)?
I am a student at the University of Pittsburgh, but right now I am working for the university's Clinical and Translational Science Institute as a summer job.

When and how did you find out about lucid dreaming?
I had heard of it before I saw the movie Waking Life, but that movie was one of my initial motivations to learn more about it. I StumbledUpon DreamViews one day last summer and decided to sign up and see if I could make it happen for myself.

How familiar do you feel about the basics of sleep and dreams?
I have done my own research on these subjects, and I feel that I have a good understanding of the basic concepts underlying them.

Are there any techniques which you want to master yet?
I have tried to use MILD and succeeded once (I believe), but perfecting that or DILD would be ideal.

What are your ultimate goals when it comes to dreaming?
I want to be able to consistently induce a lucid dream and work from there on developing dream control and experimenting with unreality.

Any other hobbies that hold your interest?
I love reading, drawing, playing guitar/trumpet, singing, bike riding, learning about new things, and spending time with my girlfriend. I am a member of the Pitt Marching Band, which is awesome!

My name's Grayson. I'm 14. Towards the end of April I had been searching the internet for ways to get inspiration for music and I came across dreams as a source. This lead me to lucid dreaming, which fascinated me. I've had three half-lucid, piss-quality lucid dreams - the more vivid of the two happening at complete random with no effort put in by me and I'm striving to have a "real" one so vivid that I look around with full awareness and go "This is too real to be a dream". I don't think that MILD/other memory-related techniques are going to be as effective to me because I have ADHD and therefore my prospective memory even while awake is much less effective than a lot of people, not to mention my subconscious memory, therefore I think WILD is the way to go for me. I'd say my main goals for this are to be able to have them whenever I want to and to write music in them. I'm a musician and stuff, been playing piano since I was 5 and guitar since I was 12. That's what really lead me to this subject in the first place and so that remains my ultimate desire for it. I hope being involved in a class can get me focused enough on it to get better, if not concrete lucid dreams.
Even though I'd prefer WILD, it's nice to diversify so I'll try to learn DILD as well. Cool.

When and how did you find out about lucid dreaming?
I think it was last June that I got really interested in it. Unfortunately I completely dropped it, didn't even think about it. That is until a year later, almost to the day. I saw Dr. LaBerge's book on my shelf and decided to read it. Interest is i full swing again.

How familiar do you feel about the basics of sleep and dreams?
      Pretty familiar.

Are there any techniques which you want to master yet?
Well I would love to be able to WILD but I think I should focus on getting a few more lucid dreams under my belt first. Actually I'm in the WILD course, but I decided that I would focus on this course. (On a side not to Naiya I will be keeping a workbook and going to lectures on DILD, I will read logs and try to participate in the WILD course but I don't think I have enough time to spend on it right now, sorry).

What are your ultimate goals when it comes to dreaming?
Have fun first, maybe do some self reflecting and productive stuff later.

Any other hobbies that hold your interest?
I write screenplays, short stories and maybe soon try a novel. Right now I'm more into music though, especially playing folk and celtic...

Oh and sorry I missed the first lecture
      I read the log
