      Crimson009's Meditation Workbook

I have a few questions before trying to meditate again. Can I sit up in a chair and put a pillow behind my back to help straighten my back for meditation? I am not really good sitting Indian style yet. When I am doing a focal meditation, should I write down my mantra or picture the phrase in my head? That's it for now. Thanks in advance.

Yep, you can meditate in whatever position is comfortable/relaxing for you, as long as you feel that it won't be relaxed enough to fall asleep while meditating (unless that's your goal of course). Also, you can write down your mantra or picture it in your head if you want, but what I do is just say the phrase over and over in my head, like just the words. That helps me focus on it without focusing on anything else, like the shape of the letters etc. Thanks for creating your workbook to ask this stuff, and if you have any other questions, feel free to post or send me a private message .

Meditation should be easy now. I just make it harder by thinking I doing it wrong somehow. I will try using the focal technique again for a few nights and report back with success.
