      LucidAvenger's Meditation Workbook

      Hi everyone

      I already do lots of meditation and I know several techniques, I decided to join this class because I know I have lots to learn. I know quite a bit about the several techniques. To me, meditation means clearing your thoughts and allowing your mind to portray underlining important thoughts. It means enjoying silence and giving yourself time for your own self. I hope to learn more meditation techniques by the end. I am also very good at visualisation so hopefully that will help.

      Thanks for joining the class and posting your workbook thread!

      Meditation does mean clearing your mind, and in some types of meditation, allowing important thoughts to come to the front. As a result, you gain improved focus, concentration and awareness. In the later lessons, I will be encouraging students to build up a meditation schedule to help them stay on track. I'll also be covering techniques for two types of meditation, and a combined technique which can be helpful for dreaming.

      Last night I felt extremely upset and agitated with a lot on my mind. When I went to bed I did a basic breathing meditation, I then felt much better and fell asleep easily.

Next week I'll be covering void meditation, and also a basic breathing meditation to relax the mind enough for void meditation.

      Did you fall asleep while doing the meditation? Or did you do the meditation for 5 minutes, then go to sleep?

      I was like half asleep so I wasn't sure whether I wanted to meditate, so yes I did fall asleep, and when I woke like 5 hours later some avenged Sevenfold song was playing

      Ok, if you're sitting with your hands on your legs/knees and your legs crossed, which is the position I sit in while meditating, a good thing to do if you're getting sleepy is to focus on the feeling in your hands, and only focus on the sense of touch you can feel from them touching your legs. If I meditate while I'm really tired, I do this to stop myself from falling asleep.

      You don't need to, it's optional. Only post your meditation experiences if you're comfortable with everyone else reading them .

      Okay as I said, I would meditate today

      I had a great workout session for about an hour. I decided to meditate afterwards. I sat with my back straight and my hands on my legs, and began to let some thoughts surface. I thought that it was a bad idea to meditate after such a hectic workout because my body was still like, shaking from the workout. And the next part was great, I decided to to the relaxation technique where you tense all the main parts of your body one by one then release. After I did this my whole body relaxed. I then started to meditate my mind. I imagined every breath in brought pure white energy into me and every breath outwards removed all negative energy. I did this for about 2 minutes and then I began to imagine that all the thoughts coming up were being placed away in a box. After my mind was fairly clear I began to try count to 20 without my mind wandering and I couldn't do it until about the 5th try. I then had to go, so I opened my eyes and felt completely relaxed.

      It sounds like it was great. I've said it before, but meditation doesn't just relax the mind, but also the body. So it's never a bad idea to meditate. Unless...you're about to get run over by a truck... It's good that you kept trying the breathing meditation until you could do it successfully, because by the time you can do it without losing track, your mind is already really relaxed.

      Okay I have done 3 void meditations but they were all fairly similar, so I will post the longest and best one:

      I was sick over the weekend so I was in bed most of the time. I lay down in my bed on my back with my arms on my side. I just waited for about a minute until some thoughts came. When they started to come I began to imagine placing them into a box. Because I practice this method so much, they never come back. After they began to come less frequently I started to count as I breathed deeply. Every deep breath in I imagined a clean light filling my body and every deep breath out would clean all bad stuff out. After doing this for about 5 minutes I began to keep breathing deeply without much on my mind. My body became heavy and I got some imagery. When I opened my eyes I felt extremely relaxed.
