Define Mainstream. Because in my book Nickelback and 30STM totally are.

I guess I listen to some... I like Radiohead and Tool for example and they each have a huge fan base and regularly headline the big festivals.

Although I NEVER listen to radio and would guess that most of the bands I really like aren't widely popular or known. And since I don't watch MTv or any of that shit either, I don't really have any idea what's up in the charts now.. .. I usually define the mainstream factor by the position in a line up, the prices of concert tickets and the fanbase.

      Wow, are Ratatat mainstream?
I saw them once, but it was a very small location with maybe 30 people.

Hardly anyone I know listens to Nickelback or 30STM, so I wouldn't consider them mainstream myself. Guess it's a matter of perspective.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

They are in the sense that they're relatively well known now. That song though, with Kid Cudi, has been a radio hit for a while. Kid Cudi is famous in his own right anyways.
