      Songs people should listen to...

the 'Movies Everyone should see' gave me this idea...
Post songs you have heard recently that you think everyone should try and listen to!

I've just heard one on my radio, Coldplay's 'Fix you' That's a beautiful song.
Keane-She has no time, Your Eyes Open.
      Athlete-HalfLight, Wires
KT Tunstall-The other side of the world-'can you still love me/when you can't see me anymore?'
'all of the moments that already passed/
try to go back and make them last.'

Woah, this is one of the greatest topics ever! I think I'm gonna break up my post by genre...

      Progressive Rock
      Yes-Close to the Edge
      Genesis-Supper's Ready
      Kansas-Opus Insert
      Spock's Beard-The Great Nothing
      Emerson, Lake & Palmer-Karn Evil 9 (parts 1-3)
Van Der Graaf Generator-A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers
      Rush-Analog Kid

      80s Metal
      Van Halen-Little Guitars
      Def Leppard-Photograph
      Zebra-Don't Walk Away

      Psychedelic Rock
      Iron Butterfly-In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida
Pink Floyd-Let there Be More Light
      Porcupine Tree-Even Less
      Jefferson Airplane-She has Funny Cars
The Rolling Stones-She's a Rainbow (yes, the stones did one psychedelic rock album)

      Pop
U2-Where the Streets Have no Name
      The Beatles-Tomorrow Never Knows

      New Wave
      Duran Duran-The Sound of Thunder
      The Buggles-Johnny on the Monorail

Rock (too tired to think of more sub-genres at this point)
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young-Carry on
      Neil Young-Cinnamon Girl
      Bob Dylan-Like a Rolling Stone
      Led Zeppelin-Stairway to Heaven
      Jimi Hendrix-Little Wing

That's all I can think of for now I think I wrote way too much, but oh well, I like music way too much.
      Look, a distraction!

Every time I come to this forum or read and think about lucidity, I think of this song. I use it a lot to build up confidence, mood, inspiration, and atmosphere for when I want to achieve lucidity. I even play it before I go and do WILD.

      Awesome song indeed!!

I've got a lot to reccommend, but I'll try to narrow it down.

      Ben Folds -- Trusted
      Billy Joel -- Piano Man
      Collective Soul -- Precious Declaration
      Eve 6 -- There's a Face
Flogging Molly -- The Rare Ould Times
Flogging Molly -- Rebels of the Sacred Heart
Flogging Molly -- Within a Mile of Home
Green Day -- Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)
Green Day -- Ha Ha You're Dead
      Green Day -- Basket Case
Hot Hot Heat -- Picking it Up
Me First & The Gimme Gimme's -- Rainbow Connection (A cover on the original)
NOFX -- The Idiots are Taking Over
      Queen -- Bohemian Raphsody
The Pillows -- Blues Drive Monster

Heh...Well, I did get a little carried away, and I wound up editing my list down to about a quarter of what it was. Yet I still feel like I'm barely scratching the surface...*sigh* Maybe some other day.

      Loreena McKennit-The Highwayman
      The Waterboys-Don't bang the drum
Linda Thompson-All I see, and Weary Life. (for the comedy and tragedy of emotions, it's amazing how an album can encompass both sides of an emotional coin, brilliant)

Huh...I haven't watched Chobits for a LONG time. Two or three years, i think...I read the mangas a few months ago, though. Maybe Randy has the soundtrack so I can steal it for a bit...
Anyway, the only animes that I really loved the soundtracks to were Fooly Cooly and Cowboy Bebop. I found out about The Pillows when I bought the FLCL soundtrack, and I've been hooked on 'em ever since. Randy's tried to get me to listen to the Mahoromatic soundtrack a few times, but it's a bit...well, nauseating. It's about the same with most of the other anime soundtracks I've heard...I mean, it's like a room of all bright pink walls with little white kittens running around. It's just too freakin' much to handle without getting the urge to kill everything cute and fluffy in the world. Ya know?

Anyway. Here's a few more songs for ya' --

DJ Mystik--Unchained Melody (Leastwise, I think it's DJ Mystik)
      Steriogram--Walkie Talkie Man
      Vendetta Red--Shatterday
      Dropkick Murphys--A Few Good Men

Or anything else by this lovely lady... I'm on such a KT kick right now, what with the avatar and sig, but she's great, that's why I'm pimping her out, so may people dismiss her, click on my sig to hear some of her stuff.

i just got my rio carbon 5 gig mp3 player(finally). it came with a ton of crappy songs and some crappy standup from ellen degenerous or whatever. so i deleted it all except this one song by this band called "Astral" the song is called "Raining Down". its not my usual music but it sounded pretty good. very melodic and would rule if u were high and drunk. (like all music, i know )

it has this guy singing along with this slow beat and nice clean melodic guitar sound. almost like a really slow pink floid song. man its cool.

woohoo i found a free streamer from their website: http://cdbaby.com/mp3lofi/astralmusic2-09....640d4bfe08e3c0b low quality tho
