I too am a Stephen King fanatic.:p So, that having been said, I must suggest The Dark Tower Series to you. It contains 7 books but is worth the read. Its a fantasy about a Gunslinger on a path to the Dark Tower. It is possibly the strangest bunch of books I have ever read.

You can never go wrong with Ray Bradburry! He is amazing, or try Kurt Vonnegut. If you don't find something you like between the two of them I would be completely surprised!

Terrence McKenna- Food Of The Gods
that book will really blow your head, I think everyone should read it as well as,

Julian Jaynes- The Origins of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind
That ones a bit of a solid read but completely worth it, that book changed my life!

Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card.

The way I discovered this book is that a friend of mine thought it was so amazing he just has to buy it for all his friends. We were hanging out, and he drags me into a bookstore and buys me the book. So I read it, and indeed, it is truly badass haha.

Snowcrash, by Neal Stephenson (if you're into cyberpunk, this one kicks ass).

I recommend American Gods by Neil Gaiman. It's one of my favorite books, and has some sci-fi, and lots of fantasy. Great book.

My favorite book (3 of them actually) is called The Coldfire Trilogy by C.S. Friedman. I swear I am the only person I know who has read this. It's a fantasy/sort of sci-fi book, has some writing flaws (only caught them after reading the damn thing 4 times over), but it's the best plot line I've ever come across.

The basics: A bunch of people finally managed to find a suitable planet to colonize. They land and find out that the planet is covered with this energy field (sort of like the life force of the planet) that tries to reject humans as if they were a virus, and it does this by manifesting people's darkest fears. So this group of people decides that they can't possibly live here, but then some jerk goes and destroys their spaceship along with every possible piece of evidence that would link them with Earth.

Hehe and that's the prologue. The book is about how the civilization is doing 1000 years later, looking through the eyes of a priest who fights demons. And then there's my favorite character of all time... a big guy from the church, a prophet as they call him, who went all bad-ass and decided to become evil and live forever.

Ooooh I LOVE it. Somebody please read it.

wow mes that sounds like my kinda book. Reminds me of the "sphere" book. and that event horizon movie. Both are where some space thing manifests peoples fears.

Fight Club is definitely worth reading if you haven't already got a copy. Other work by Chuck Palahniuk (the author of Fight Club) is also good. Have you read any poetry? I'm a big fan of Keats' work.

If you like fantasy then Trudi Canavan is a good fantasy writer. There a decent length and have good protagonists. If you're looking for a lighter fantasy read then I recommend the Darren Shan books. He starts off writing in an immature manner that is slightly annoying but after the first few books (there are 12, but they're all kind of short) the story really picks up.

Books about flying= Maximum Ride. Series about kids with wings. Good plot, quite sci-fiyish. Hope that helped.
