If you hate cartoons but like family guy and futurama, then you don't hate the medium that is "cartoons"; you just hate most cartoons you were exposed to. So then, you don't really hate "anime", you just hate the small sample you were exposed to (probably the crap that became popular in the states, like naruto, sailor moon, dbz and pokemon).

I don't like the way the characters look. I also don't like cartoons that are serious... Plus most of the people around here that watch anime are complete weiners, and I don't care to talk to them with their nerdy lil voices and stuff. So I don't watch it. I don't have an interest to ever "try it out" either. I also don't even watch much tv. I work... come home.. get on the computer... and I grow "stuff"... Yup, that's my life since I got put on probation with a 6:00 P.M curfew and probation officers up my ass 24/7. I know I fucked up so you don't gotta tell me that.

My party days are on hold.

And it's retarded watchin lil anime people fight each other and go in wars or w/e they do... just annoying to me.

I do believe that Cowboy bepop was created before Naruto however I could be wrong.

I hope so. I love Cowboy Bebop, and I'm only moderately into Naruto. I'm about to go look that up, because I really wanna know, now.

[Edit: Yeah, both the Cowboy Bebop series and movie were out in Japan and America, before Naurto first aired, even in Japan, according to Wikipedia.]

Im on episode 120 in Bleach and im loving it, I spotaneously watched the first episode and have been hooked ever since. Subs are totally the way to go as well...

I agree about what Oneironaut said about not basing your opinion on dubs, but (not to be rude) like always, Pokemon and Yugioh come into the mix.

Contrary to popular belief, both are very good Animes. Both were butchered by 4Kids, and Pokemon: Battle Frontier and Diamond & Pearl were slaughtered by Pokemon USA. I've seen a lot of the Japanese episodes of Yugioh, and I'm going to start watching Japanese episodes of Pokemon.

And I love Naruto Shippuden. I need to start watching it again. I haven't had enough time lately.

(Yes, I'm probably the only person that's going to stick up for Yugioh and Pokemon...Go me!!!!)

Never understood why people liked Elfen Lied.

Because it's not like most animes in some way...I can't really describe it...but I will find a way too someday.

I really like a lot of anime... but I really don't like lots of it, too. Naruto and Bleach were a waste of time, imo.

As for Elfen Lied... meh, I'm kind of mixed on that one. Some of the story is pretty amazing, really well thought out. Other parts seem - well, just the opposite. I should also add that the level of violence and nudity was a bit too high for my tastes.

If you want some great anime, watch Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, or Death Note, or The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, or Kino's Journey. All of those have fantastic levels of animation, music, and originallity.

I learned japanese that way -.-'

Also i watched so many anime's that if i'd write em out, my post would take half a page.

I actually don't like Naruto as much as most other anime. Yet, it is the one i have watched the most.

I like Eureka 7, though i KNOW someone's gonna bitch over it.

IMHO though, the worst is fucking DBZ.

The story is so generic and what i really hate, is when someone dies they just magically get resurrected somehow.

Also, i dislike the monkey thing. I'm gonna be a fricking super saiyan, and be an ultra, ultra, ultra phat psychopathic monkey.

I'll pretty much agree with you on the generic (overall) storyline, but I think the elements within the story are very well-worked, and varied.

As far as people dying and resurrecting; the whole story is centered around 7 magic dragonballs that scatter around the Earth and, when put together, give you wishes. With this, people are able to bring their friends and family members back from the dead. It's not all that "mysterious." They also show a lot of what goes on in the afterlife, and there are loopholes in the system that you can manipulate to come back to life. If you know the story, nothing that happens just happens "somehow," there are perfectly good reasons for it.

Yes, but who doesn't love werewolves? Same concept. Saiya-Jins are were-apes. They are aliens. On their planet, at the sight of a full-moon, they turn into massive apes and go on a rampage.

Turning into an ape has nothing to do with turning into a Super Saiya-Jin. It happens when they see moonlight. Again, it's not that random.

But, in all fairness, my defense of DBZ dies with pretty much everything that happened after the Cell Saga. That's when Funimation started getting a hold of it, and the whole thing went to shit. R.I.P.

Yeah Ghost in the Shell was made out really well. The anime in it is nice.

I wish they would bring back some good shows like Zoids or Gundam Wing back on Cartoon Network. I really miss those shows...

What's with the DBZ bashing?? Yes, the story may not be the greatest. But don't forget this show (along with a few others, like Pokemon) opened up the opportunity for lots of other Japenese animes to come to the states. As Oneironaut said, the story makes sense (gasp) if you have watched it. (Not just 10 minutes).

I could take any anime or manga out of context and rant about how so and so doesn't make sense.


Oh, and for any mature readers on this thread I highly reccomend Gantz. I dunno if theres an anime but check out the manga.
