What I'm wondering, though, is weather or not you'll be allowed to stay at certain stages of the game. Like, say I didn't want my creatures to develop sentience and shift into the tribes part, I wonder if there will be the option not to. I suppose there's always the option of creating a new specie (there better be). And for that matter, I wonder if you have to come up on land, or if you can have sentient aquatic creatures.

Consider my hat held onto
I hope so. It looks like a lot of fun to play at the level where you control a single creature hunting others while trying to survive. What interests me most, though, is that totally awesome creature editor. Looks like you could build virtually anything. That funky six-legged guy they showed was really cool, it was amazing how smoothly and naturally he walked.
Looks like ol' Will's really onto something with this one.

I wanna play the one where you start out as a single cell organism in a drop of water, then evolve into intelligent beings travelling through space (lol @ buying a UFO)
holy freaking wow, in the 2nd one you can even select different areas of the galaxy and listen to radio frequencies to determine if there's intelligent life there
and it even combines worlds from other players that are playing the game as well, and you can explore them, did I get that right?!
the scope of this thing blows my mind
