      Breaking Dawn - Twilight Series

      So, Breaking Dawn, last in the Twilight Series, is releasing in a few days here. (Don't scroll down and read the plot by the way, it contains spoilers I do believe)

      Is anyone else anticipating this? Does anyone else like the Twilight series? :p

      I see there is no thread on the Twilight series. I guess we can use this thread to discuss everything Twilight.

      You know what, this whole "twighlight series" thing just started recently blowing up... I don't see the mass appeal to it. Most people who aren't like.. 12-17 have said that it's not that good.

      From what I infer, it's a vampire-love story, aimed at teenage girls, right?

      That's cool.
      You do this every fucking time.

      It's for all ages really. I know people from all ages that read it. There's a group called Twilight Moms actually. haha.

      Anyways, it did "blow up" pretty recently. I mean, the series was always popular, but I hear about it much more now.

      Ah, well.. once again, I'm not the one to read love-stories very often, so I wouldn't know. I actually (just because you posted this), watched both trailers for the film. It looks pretty well directed, honestly.

      Yeah, it does include lots of adventure, action as well. Overall it'd be considered a love story though.

      Here are the links to the trailers if anyone is interested. :p

      I read the entire series in a few days (like most people who start it). I remember not being able to put it down. But looking back it I'm starting to think that it wasn't too great. It just doesn't have too much depth to me (the characters are simple). I just finished the Host, which was pretty good but not a 'must read'.

      I'll still get Breaking Dawn, and probably devour it because her writing style is very addictive.

      Midnight Sun is still coming out right? Wouldn't that be the last of the series? Although its not a linear continuation of the story line.

      Well, it was released today, and I pre-ordered it from Amazon, and it hasn't delivered yet.

      Quiver - Stephenie isn't done with writing Midnight Sun yet, but it will be published when she does. She said she doesn't know if that will be the last book, and says she "wouldnt be surprised" if she wrote another book about the Cullens or other characters. Breaking Dawn is the last one from Bella's point of view, though.

      I read the first two books.

      **Spoilers**

      It bugs be that Edward is nearly perfect in every way.
      - Supposedly the best looking person on the planet.
      - Brilliant, given his extensive time on Earth and education.
      - Can read minds.
      - Has super strength and speed.
      - Is basically altruistic, self-sacrificing, well-mannered, sophisticated.
      - Is extremely rich.
      - Is a vampire which in itself provides him with a kind of mystique.

      Bella, on the otherhand, is not spectacular is anyway other than the relatively minor fact that she has no problem that he is a vampire.

      Doesn't the relationship seem so manufactured to be a school-girl fantasy?

      Sorry, I don't mean to criticize too much. After all, that is probably who the book was written for. I really did like the books anyway... maybe i'm jealous?!

      What did you think of the casting choices?

      I don't like it because the vampires sparkle instead of die when they go into light.

      I really like this series, and I resent that comment about women not writing action-packed novels... How sexist is that!

      The story really appeals to me. I don't usually read vampire books, but I like this one because it's a new and unique take on vampires. I really like the whole not dying in the sun bit.

      True, the vamps could be a bit more.. something.. after living all those years. But hey you can't assume that a non-human brain will keep evolving year after year, century after century. Perhaps there's a stopping point.

      I'm really excited for the movie. At first I didn't think Pattinson fit the role, but after a few days of watching trailers and interviews and everything, aaaack I think he's perfect!

      Spoilers:

      I am annoyed though at Jacob. He's just a dumb teen as far as I can see. He has no reason to be so hostile toward the Cullens. Just shows that he's too young to know anything. I also don't like just how HUGE he is. Makes me wonder how he can be attracted to Bella at all. I mean she's a measly 5'4 when he is well over 6'5 by the third book!

      But I really like how Bella sees herself as ordinary, how she has all these mental problems, etc. Strangely makes it way easier to like her and relate to her.

      Anyway, all in all, a million thanks to Xox for alerting me to the existence of this series!

      And no one should have to wait til Christmas or whatever to get the fourth book. It costs all of what, 20-25 bucks?

      lol, i wasn't trying to be sexist it was just a simple observation i have made.(being sexist for me would be contradictory in itself anyways. )
      also i have to wait 'til christmas because we are really poor and can't just go out and buy random books whenever we feel like it.
      although i think i will like midnight sun better than breaking dawn i still can't wait to get it.

      What a fucking mangled story.

      The two main characters are Mr. and Mrs. Stu and the plot (or lack there of) is a horrid concoction of ridiculousness and general crap.

      I write this off as "Almost as bad as Inheritence".

      Xox, no there aren't any spoilers for Breaking Dawn. Yet!

      I wonder about the covers for the books. They don't seem to correlate with any part of the story... maybe it's just an artistic thing. Like the apple on the first one, for example. Meh?

      Quiver - Edward does seem to be perfect, doesn't he? Besides the fact he wants to eat her up when he meets her. Haha. I mean, come on, that's pretty scary. And I personally think that it's nor a minor fact that she doesn't find him scary. For someone like Edward, who has a lot of self-loathe periods, (You'll notice this especially if you've read Midnight Sun) someone who's not scared of him is extremely odd, almost like a miracle.

      Casting Choices - Eh, I'm okay with them. I really do like the trailers, Pattinson seems to be doing it well. I personally imagine Edward to look like Jeremy Dufour, this French model. Kind of like him anyways. I know this sounds cheesy, but I don't think any human can possibly be like Edward, coz he's a vamp. =P Pattinson doesn't replace the mental image I have of Edward, so doesn't Kristen Stewart for Bella. I do have high expectations though.

      ~~~
      Cost of Breaking Dawn - I pre-ordered from Amazon and paid 16 bucks for hardcover, that is including shipping and handling.
      ~~~

      Spoiler for New Moon and stuff - about jacob:

      Cover Art - I think the first cover, Twilight's, is the only one Stephenie actually chose. They are Bella's hands, and she is holding the "forbidden fruit." Who is supposed to represent Edward of course.

      As for the other cover arts, Steph didn't even choose them. She said the publishing company did. Which sucks, I have my own theories about them though. Except for new Moon, which I totally don't understand.

      Aw I LOVE Pattinson for Edward. I didn't at first, but now I imagine his face whenever I read the books. I think he'll be AMAZING. And that French model you're talking about (also my avatar ) is really hot only at certain angles, I fear. Like, his face isn't nearly as chiseled or symmetrical as Edward's, or Robert's, is. Plus Robert can portray a certain essential charm through the screen.

      I'm lukewarm on the other casting choices, but I'm sure I'll love them too once I see the movie.

      Spoiler for Jacob:

      I like the casting choices for all the cullens except Rosalie. I think Kristen Stewart will make a good Bella. I think the best part is just going to be hearing some of the more memorable bits of dialogue from the book brought over to the movie.

      The New Moon cover and Eclipse cover did seem much less meaningful and more like generically pleasing images.

      Did anyone read the Host?

      Yeah, the way they describe Rosalie. She's supposed to basically be the most beautiful person on Earth. Meh, I haven't seen much of her in the trailers yet, so I guess I'll wait and see.

      I do think Kristen makes a good Bella, because she does look "breakable" and is kind of plain-ish. (Which is how she's supposed to be) They were casting someone else, but apparently she was too "beautiful" haha.

      I personally think Robert is doing a superb job, he is really acting well. Baah can't wait.

      I read The Host, I liked it. Not as good as Twilight series of course, but still a good read.
