I was thinking about it, but nah i am fine with Aion untill Call of Duty MW2 comes out.

Im heavily considering this. It does look like a lot of fun. especially since lotro is p2p

I am playing it with drow monk. I personally think it is the best MMORPG I have ever played, solely because the D&D universe and the feel of adventure withiin it.

I recommend.

I don't know, I just don't trust Wizards of the Coast, who own D@D. Their Magic the Gathering online game was an epic failure, and still continues to fail to this day. Plus I just don't see how the greedy SOBs can give it away for free.

It's really free! There is an in game DDO store where you use points you buy to get stuff. And you can purchase an *optional* VIP status where you pay monthly and get free stuff.

It is really a great game. I dig it. It has somewhat D&D feeling, even though it is a computer game.

Worth of trying , at least.

I played through the newb island today and it's okay. There were both dungeons and dragons, as advertised. Something about Tolkien-knock-off fantasy just doesn't do it for me. Also the interface feels a little old and cludgy.

I might try out Aion. I often pick up a MMO this time of year.

Im in the newb area of DDO now, rank 3 of lvl 1 scout >< Joined the server you said just in case I stick with it long enough. Its pretty fun so far, definitely a good alternate option since I cant do the monthly fee for lotro. and you're right. there are a lot of stats and customization options, you can tell this use to be a p2p

Yet it lacks many I'd like to see and customize. But still best MMORPG in a terms of ROLEplaying at least.

Still I enjoy it. Good quests and they have really put effort into them in my opinion.

I crossed over to Stormreach and gave it another go, with better results. The kobold dungeons are pretty entertaining, and it's better when the quests are somewhat challenging and you have a balanced-ish group.

I might still give Aion a trial run and compare them head to head.

Stupid game keeps crashing on me when I try to load it. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Got a couple short games in, looks pretty good. I don't like the look of the level caps, but we'll see.

Anyone know why my custom spell caster can't cast his spells? Tells me my ability isn't high enough. Ability in what?


EDIT: I'm thinking it might have just been the downlaoder packaged in the first option that was giving me options. I'm going to try the high resolution download and see it that's any better. But OMG that downloader system is BAD! I usually pass on software rather than install annoying programs like that on my comp. I don't trust 'em... Plus I have zero faith in the company that owns this game.

It means you can play it with the minimum download, but most of the stuff is with the complete ( about 4gig) so load it first

what class is your custom caster? You gotta pick your spells from spellbook to be remembered unless you are a sorcerer.

What about level caps? It is a insanely long way to 20. In D&D lvl 20 mostly means demi-god

You dont trust the company? They also own LOTRO!!! I think that makes em trustworthy enough. but yeah, I waited for the high res package, it is a lot better. I like it a lot ^^ now, if only I could find that sigil so I can lvl past 4....

They cost 50 piece at the DO store. Wasn't a big deal to buy them off there since the game is otherwise free. The graphics are very good when you put everything to the best settings

This is the best MMORPG this far I have played with UO. That is a compliment since I really have tried almost all there is.

Are you all on Sarlona btw?

If you'd played MTGO from the beginning like I did, you'd know what I'm talking about. It's been almost 10 years and they still can't make a client that works right after three versions! They make Windows look like a stable piece of software.

I figured out my casting problems. Apparently, magic users need a high charisma, and I put my points into INT and DEX. Made a new char and fixed it.

Doing much better now that I've figured out how to do a regular weapon attack without using the mouse.

Actually only bards, favored souls and sorceress need charisma. Wizards need intelligence and clerics wisdom. I suggest to look up the ruleset and such if you want to get good results also don't multiclass unless you know what you are doing. Custom classes are for those who know what they are doing, but existing paths are good for beginners.
