I was searching the forums and found no mentions of this game. Either no-one here has played it or they just haven't thought to explain it. Here goes.

It is made by the DOTA people, which is one of those games where you play an RTS where you mainly control one person. But rather than manage where all your units are in reference to your character, all you have to do is manage where you are on the battlefield in relation to your units. (They manage themselves in this on going battle and you do what you can to drastically change the outcome, essentially.)

You level up, gain new abilities, loot gold for ability enhancing items, get player kills, (it's a PvP game,) and get to pick from LOTS of guys. Oh, so many guys/gals to choose from all with highly unique abilities/playstyles. It remains remarkably balanced as well, considering there are so many dudes and it is only the beta.

We need some DV teams kicking butt, maybe I'll even organize a DV tournament if enough of you are willing? Tell me if you are interested in that and I'll work something up.

Anyway, very fun, balances simplicity and depth much better than most games of the genre and it's FREE!!! Woo-hoo.

Heroes of newerth > LoL!

Two stand alone dota games comming out...

I got a beta key for HoN so I've been trying that out.

I'm fucking pro dota, so I'd def be down for a DV team. We only need 5 + subs

I never go that into DOTA, though I have quickly fallen in love with LOL. Do you intend on getting LoL? It works wonderfully for a beta. And I'd be more than up for grouping with you once I learned the mechanics a little better. Trying to learn Tristana/Warwick right now.

Really eh? I thought HoN was a very good game. DotA is still king of course, but HoN was impressive. The new heros are great too.

Anyway, I'm still looking for a beta key. I really want to compare all 3 games. It seems we have a solid base of players here already to start a HoN/LoL/DotA group. (I bought WC3 pack just to play dota lol)

I still don't understand the DotA phenomenon. It's honestly one of the most un-entertaining, repetitive games I have ever played.

Try LoL out anyway, Black Eagle. Tons of people who hate DotA like LoL. And to everyone else, it goes public in five days so if you can't find a beta key that's all right.

Ok I played the open beta...Can't say I liked it at all. HoN is a better game Imo. The transition from DotA is a lot smother.

I have tried DOTA, but this one is way more noobfriendly. And the game is awesome

my brother in the military plays LoL. Thats the extent of my interaction with it though lol. I like questing better. With the exception of SC of course
