"Hates any and all music"

I know someone who protests that he hates any and all music, and doesn't like anything. Doesn't like classical, pop, rock, rap, electronic, metal... Hates it all! My question is, is this really possible? Is it possible for someone to not like music at all? To hate it even? Do you know anyone like this?

He's probably just like all the bungholes who claim that they hate Christmas. Could stem from one of two things: One, he's an antisocial nonconformist, and since "everybody else" likes music, he figures he'll just be that one guy who hates it; being different is the only important thing in his life. Two, he's psychologically detached from music because of some past traumatic event involving music (had an abusive alcoholic father who was also a musician? I don't know). Or maybe... or maybe you're a sociopath.

I don't think it's so crazy. I didn't get into feeling music until I was 12, and there was nothing remarkable about that phase other than nothing "did it" for me. Hating music, however.. That's another story.

no human can truly HATE all music. I don't believe it's possible. I don't know music sound psychology etc. well enough to articulate why, but basically, the universe is full of rythm...you'd have to have a serious brain defect to actually HATE all music, as that is completely unnatural. if your friend disliked music to such a degree, he'd go mad. music is everywhere. does he watch movies or tv? he'd go insane if he didn't have his ears plugged all the time...he's either just trying to be cool, as Lezen generally suggested, or he's pulling your leg, or he's just young inexperienced and has yet to find a genre he likes, OR, he really is fucking crazy.

nerve, then i wonder if since autism has a genetic effect on sociability there could be something that does the same for appreciation of music... or other things, too, i guess 8| i mean, someone who's colorblind wouldn't experience colors like a typical person, so it's just not having the same baseline of experience that's normal.

I've never heard of such a thing. I know (though don't understand) people for whom music is nothing more than background noise, but someone who actively hates all forms of music? That just sounds like someone trying to be a pain for the sake of it.
