I try to deny myself any illusions or delusions, and I think that this perhaps entitles me to try and deny the same to others, at least as long as they refuse to keep their fantasies to themselves. - Christopher Hitchens

I'm glad this "climate change" denial is only a phenomenon in the US. |

And there's also the "Wind turbines are ruining the view!" people, who I find quite annoying. They believe climate change is indeed a real problem and agree that something must be done about it, but when someone starts building a wind farm, they get all up in arms. All because those few turbines way in the distance are a bit of an eyesore. |
|
My entire college campus is wind powered, from the machines in the gym that have convertors to the wind turbines we own somewhere . |

People deny it? Oookay. |

Jujutsu is the gentle art. It's the art where a small man is going to prove to you, no matter how strong you are, no matter how mad you get, that you're going to have to accept defeat. That's what jujutsu is.
The infrasound from a 2.3 Megawatt turbine is less than 80dB at 1000 feet. If that level of infrasound gives someone problems, they'd probably die if a helicopter flew within a mile of them. That's not to mention the most intense source of infrasound that most people encounter on a regular basis... Lightning. BOOOOOMM |

Just stumbled on this and thought I'd post it since it's relevant: |

Yeah, that's why I'm pretty apathetic about this issue. I am very concerned about sustainability anyway, most crucially with respects to energy... I think it's probably the most urgent issue of our times, and within the decade we'll really start feeling it. |

Scientists See No Basis for Turbine 'Infrasound' Claims |

Oh, fair enough. I still think there are deniers everywhere. Maybe it's worse in the US. But yeah, politics fail. |

You can hear a wind turbine. It's not very loud, but you can easily hear it. Just requires that everything else is quite. It's a very faint sound, and unless you actually listen for a while, you will just think it's the wind whistling in the trees, but it is actually wind turbines. Of course, it requires the right direction of wind, depending on where you're standing. I live about 1 kilometer away from 3 big ones, and you can certainly hear them if you go outside during the night. |

Then maybe you are just hearing the wind in the trees. Because I've stood right next to several of them and cannot hear a single thing. I have excellent hearing. |
|
These are fairly new, perhaps 8 years old. The sound comes from the blades "wooshing" in the wind. I say again, it is very hard to hear, but it's definitely the windturbines. It's basically just like wind, except you can hear "wooshing", usually in a 2 second interval. I was outside around 3 AM with a friend once, and told him, and he could hear it too. |

Daily Show tonight did a fantastic job at showing why there's so much doubt in Climate Change. While "Climate Gate" was given weeks of news coverage, the debunking of Climate Gate was given 27 seconds of news coverage. |

Oil and coal companies have billions to waste on propaganda/advertising between them as well. While scientists in general have pretty much none. Unless there are news stations willing to report honest, real science. Which is getting pretty rare these days. If it ever wasn't rare. And generally scientists data will only reach the scientific community, of which a very small percentage are just average citizens with an interest in science. |
