Wow. Pretty scary stuff. I don't know where to find a link since I read it in a book but apparently the Iraq war had some serious full-on capitalist motives. During the course of the war, the government was hollowed out and made privatized in many areas, justified out of need for the war effort. Despite being less effective. Also, after the near collapse of the Iraqi government the U.S had a few G men placed in their office, to take out any restrictions on unfettered capitalism and create a healthy business environment. (Of course it wasn't healthy for the average Joe...or... Mohammed. And it didn't work out because all the violence quickly scared away corporations).
Not only this, but "the war on terrorism" is a war that can never end. This was perfect for Homeland security corporations. And still is, they're turning massive, endless profits because the government (unknowingly by most individuals involved in said establishment) privatized and sold itself out. Charter schools, private soldiers (uhm, not rank), private prisons and private health care for wounded soldiers. All of this to benefit corporations. And who knows? Maybe some people involved truly believed in trickle down economics, and though they were raping other nations for it, they believed the American people would be better off. On the flip side, maybe a lot of them were just self-interested psychopaths.
