^ Imo, I think certain suits have realized that the economy won't bounce back anytime soon. So now they feel their best course of action is to take preventative measures to ensure Americans don't end up rioting/protesting like the people of various other nations in similar economic straits. "National security" and whatnot.

I just ran into that on YouTube. I don't understand why the guy was being arrested in the first place. He was just filming the cop scene with his phone, and he was walking away when the cops approached him. I also don't understand why the cop couldn't have tased or maced the dog. He also could have uncuffed the guy and let him put his dog up. He did not have to shoot the dog. I hope the cop goes to jail and gets eaten alive by a lawsuit.

A lot of things are getting cut in the USA, and humane society is one of em, they are suppose to do this job, not police, but gov gets money hungry and cuts off many important things that police won't need to deal with.

I don't even know why I watched that video of the cop shooting the dog, I knew that shit was gonna make me bawl.

I just wanted to see if the man provoked the cops in any way, which of course he didn't, beyond stating plainly that what was happening was a violation of civil liberties.

It is completely legal to photograph cops, provided you aren't being disorderly or obstructing. There were obviously others there filming, so why this man was pursued as he was walking away is beyond me.

If they hadn't taken it upon themselves to detain the man for no apparent reason, the man would have left with his dog still alive, and the cops could (i dunno) go about doing their fucking job instead of choosing to let the man distract them.

Stuff like this gets to me. So hateful and arrogant and wrong, it just makes me sick to my stomach.

just giving insight here to you about law enforcement rules, i seen before 2009 all was well with how police, security and military personnel rules was going on and their so called policies were in tact and still "as how they should be acting in the jobs".
Now right after 2009 everything changed, and i seen this in my own eyes while working as security (not only airports but residential and business areas) that every security worker i seen was going against their policies and getting away with it and the companies weren't looking into this once reported an odd worker doing such things, so i guess they want this to happen.
So the new workers who gets told to read the policies and understand them, but then i realize these policies are subject to change and nothing is set in stone once 2009 passed, and i'm like OKAY but if i go against the policies i get blamed and whoever did wrong doesn't get blamed at because of stupid excuses.
Instead, law enforcement is totally going against protecting people, they don't want to protect, they want to cause more harm than good, they want to go against policies and cause problems, and cause tragedy.
I got laid off because i kept telling my company and reporting that a door needs to be fixed in order to be locked properly in a public area in order for safety to be ensured from a midnight shift, i couldn't lock it properly, but others can, doesn't mean it doesn't need to be fixed by maintanence person.
The other company i got called off that i was using some gym equipment, when they had no proof, i knew then that someone in my job disliked me in less than a month, maybe because i was too much of a goodie for them, w/e it was they had against me.
Like i said the policies just changed in law enforcement, they are not protecting you, they are just there to cause problems and be bullies, I KNOW FROM FACT, I WORKED FOR THEM AND NOT JUST BECAUSE I AM ONLY HATING THEM FOR NO REASON! THERE IS A REASON! THINGS ARE FUCKED FROM 2010 AHEAD! BE IT A WARNING! IT'S MARTIAL LAW DONE QUIETLY.

I'm too angry to even say something coherent about this right now.

Perhaps the reasons for the erosion in Americas civil liberties should be concentrated on a little more.
A lot of these replies are focusing on the end results of actions taken by individuals.
I am not saying they are not important, but look a little more toward the source of the problem.

It does seem that a lot of Americans are now standing up to the bullshit dished out by their government.

That video was made less than 48 hours ago, and it already has almost a million and a half views. I think the people are waking up to the fact that our Constitution has been severely abused for too long.

Road blocks violate the 4th Amendment. It's a no brainer.
