What if aliens came to Earth...and they were humans too?

It's a simple question, that wakes many questions : What if alien life visited our planet, and they were humans too? What would it mean (for us and for them as well)? How would our idea of the universe and life change? How would people react? How would you react?

This question popped into my mind today and I realized I had never heard any discussion of the topic and the possibility of it. The only resemblance of the topic I can remember was in some Star Trek : The Next Generation - episode, where they explained why all the characters in the show had humanoidish - appearance like humans do. This was because all the more advanced species - humans, klingons, vulcans etc. - had a common ancestor. ( Also a pretty clever way to justify the fact that they all just looked like humans in neat cosplay costumes

).

That would be kind of a disapointment to many I believe.. lol! Since human nature in general are seeking for something beyond themself. It would depend on the ailens state of mind in which direction the change would happen. I imagine that if aliens have a superior way to move in space and time than we do(obviously). Then they probably have a more advanced and deeper inner knowledge aswell. So the difference of the state of mind of the "alien" and human could maybe be a to big of a gap. For us to comprehend anything that they understand, might for them be so simple and basic that they cant "dumb" it down to make it usefull. Just as if we would struggle to explain anything to a little infant. They simply dont comprehend more than maybe a couple of word if any, depending of the state of mind.

If aliens came to our world and they were humans I would be kind of curious as to why there would need to be any more humans on another planet. I would also want to know about their planet and compare it to our own. But I would probably be cautious if I decided to approach them.

Human or no, if aliens ever came to Earth, I think we should be afraid of them.

Cutting past the obvious reasons (do they come in peace or in conquest?), there are countless dangers an alien race could bring to us, one of them being disease. When Europeans migrated to the Americas in the 19th century, they brought with them diseases that killed many Native Americans. When oysters from Asia were imported to America, they brought disease to the oysters that were already in American waters. That said, I could very well see an alien race bringing to us MANY viruses that might be COMPLETELY foreign to Earth. That alone would cause much destruction; not just for humanity, but other lifeforms as well. And if the aliens decided to leave and never come back, we'd be stuck fighting those new viruses all on our own. As of now, humanity is still struggling to find cures for current diseases, so imagine a boatload of whole NEW diseases being dumped on us. [Shrugs]

I'm not afraid to die. My children would be my only real concern because I love them so much it would tear me apart to see them suffer but other than that, maybe aliens could teach us things that would be worth the initial risk of disease. I'm not afraid that they would come for conquest, I imagine if there are aliens like the ones suggested in that tv show ancient aliens they could wipe us all out with chemical warfare before they ever landed. You wouldn't even know what hit you. I imagine they would be temped since we are murdering each other down here anyway.

There are many mythologies that suggest we were created by something more satient (in their image) maybe we are a scientific experiment :p

My first thought would be "Oh shit, more people. God dam it, i surely hope they don't reproduce. Bad enough i have a hard time finding some alone time when i'm outdoors."

Then my second thought would probably be "Well if no women on earth is interested in me then perhaps a women from outer space might be. It would be interesting to have sex with an alien." A huge blow to my ego if not even female aliens are interested i me.
