Thread: Rumsfeld Is Risigning?

You CAN'T tell me you didn't see that coming? Surely!? It's a simple case of him being a sacrificial lamb thrown to the democrats by the republican administration after the libs took the house of representatives. It als fits in with the very strong possibility of an iminant phased withdraweral from Iraq. Big dissappointment over the failure of the libs taking the senate. That would have been awesome.

A bit pointless and transparent if you ask me. I wish somebody would just cut to the heart of the matter and assassinate Bush.

Oh I expected there to be some kind of appeasement thrown to dems, as a way of saying "Yes, Ok, we're listening" but, knowing what I know about Rumsfeld, the kind of man he is, and how "in Bush's pocket" he was, I really didn't see him as being the "sacrificial lamb."

Well, that's the whole POINT. Bush wants to appear like he is making a genuine sacrifice to be able to work with a democrat house or representatives. In any case, Rumsfield is getting to the stage where he's more harm than he's worth as part of Bush's administration. He's become a much-hated public figure,... so, the Bush administration (perhaps not bush himself, though) is making a wise move in firing his ass.

Lets hope bush is Next With the democrats in the house, who knows ^__^

True, true. In retrospect, it definitely makes sense. No argument from me there.
I was already beginning to wonder how long that definitive "Screw the people. I do what I want." Rumsfeld attitude was going to hold up. Not to say it was holding up very well, in the first place. Heh.

I think he tried to resign before, but Bush never approved his resignation. I didn't read that anywhere, we had a discussion about it in class today.

I would like to thank all of the non-Americans who have expressed such passionate interest in our cabinet and congress. Are we really that important? Of course we are.

Hey, I'm not arguing for a MOMENT that America's not important. America is a military, economic and cultural superpower. What happens in America, even domestically, affects the rest of the world on a significant scale. That's an absoulte given - I'd be an idiot to try to argue otherwise. If I thought America wasn't important, you're quite right, I wouldn't give a woodfired pizzabase what happens in America. But America is influential, and so I DO care.

As for the "I'm against killing people" vs "Kill Bush" thing?

Bush isn't a "people". I'd classify him as a variety of subterannian tomato, or other type of easy-rotted vegetable.

And like I said.... "I am against killing people." (Or rather, I do not wish to) That doesn't neccessarily mean I am against people being killed by somebody other than myself. Though in MOST cases, I am. MOST.
