So I was watching this alien show on the History or Discovery Channel. Pretty silly, but the part that got my attention was a person's account of being abducted...and then the host saying that many people experience very similar "abductions". In his account he said that he was in his bed...he heard the humming of the "ship" nearby and was unable to move, he was paralyzed. He went on to talk about dark shadows moving around in his room and other crap and then only remembered bits and pieces of what happened.

I had no idea that thousands of people every year claim to be abducted by aliens!

But...what if these people that think they are being abducted are really just experiencing sleep paralysis and HI? Example, they wake up in the middle of the night in the vibrational stage....I've done this many times and it causes very loud humming noises and vibrations in my head...and someone might think...omg it's a ship!. And then their imagination sort of takes care of the rest. The dark shadows...the old hag. The aliens. Whatever. I've experienced weird vibrational things and some crazy hypnogogic imagery to the point where I might be able to understand how a really stupid person could mistake this as an alien abduction?

Heh...any thoughts?

I think I saw the same discovery documentary. And I agree that it probably is HI/sleep paralysis, mixed with everyone thinking aliens might abduct them. In Russia, people have the exact same, but instead of aliens they have some kind of monster, in other countries, they again have their own special little thing that leads people to all see the same thing, because the story is so well known.

Studies show that majority of Alien Abductees suffer from common disturbing experiences outside of believing that they've gotten abducted. I myself think these people have a tendency to fantasize and hold unusual beliefs and ideas. They believe not only in alien abductions, but also in things like UFOs, ESP, astrology, tarot, channeling, auras, and crystal therapy. For them, alien abduction is the best fit to deal with unusual disturbances.

I think I've seen that one too. Perhaps these people that are so obsessed with aliens have SP and the obsession manifests its way into the HI. Another thing is that people that believe the devil has been haunting them usually go through the same process and these people were all strict Christians.

Do you remember that movie Fire In The Sky?

I talked to one brother of the man who was abducted during that scenario.
He swore up and down something abducted his brother, all tho they don't know what exactly it was.
The movie was a bunch of hype and he never remembered being gone for 4/5 days.
He suffered from lack of food an watter for that time, otherwise no more suffering or experiments. (bad Hollywood).
Basically the whole movie was bull shit.
Which leads me to believe that aliens are probably not here.
I've seen these UFO craft quite a bit while hanging out on the Arizona strip, I think it's humans, say, like our government.

Human expectations can be very powerful, especially when theyre culturally re-enforced. In some ways I think the "Aliens" of the present are just the "Gods and Demons" of the pre-industrial age.

And I'm pretty sure anything that takes place in someone's bedroom on the fringes of sleep probably has something to do with sleep paralysis and HI's.

I didnt know people were claiming to be abducted by aliens in their own bedroom! thats pretty funny XD I always thought abductions happened outside, you know, running through a forest, BEAM ME UP SCOTTY.

there is a relationship between the belief of aliens on earth and spiritual beings, especially when you talk about ashtar command google it

Yeah, a classic example of people wanting to explain strange experiences. My housemate told me how her mum 'saw a ghost' one day. She explained that her mother didn't actually 'see' a ghost, but felt something 'sitting on her chest' when she was in bed. She tried moving but couldn't. I immediately thought of sleep paralysis and wondered how many other people thought the'd had a supernatural experience when it was simply HI or SP. A lot of the calims of alien anal probes are probably the product of paralysis...

I can't remember where I read it, but there was a neat explanation for abductions through the brains wont to occasionally release way too much DMT (there's a thread in the lounge about it) into the brain.

A DMT trip usually starts with an intense buzzing/humming noise; then a feeling of being sucked out of your body/through a vortex; and once at the destination most people in a high dose experience meet entities local to their new surroundings (elves/aliens/demons - I met some 10ft tall beings with 8 glowing tentacle-arms and huge blue saucer eyes). The trip can take on a clinical aspect, it's so introspective it forces you to examine yourself, and the entities seem to join in on occasion (might be why people get probed so often ).

Stupid people might mistake HI for an abduction, but anyone would mistake the above if it happened spontaneously. I'll try find a link

Not to criticize your theory, though I believe that many abduction stories actually happened, why do you suppose people all have the same experiences when they actually remember their abductions? Most people remember being in similar rooms w/ humanoid life forms with oversized eyes hovering above them and doing various experiments on them. When people describe their experiences, they are usually very detailed and almost always similar on just about every detail. Just for the record, I will say that the people who don't remember anything other than a feeling of detachment or paralysis, accompanied by the old hag you mentioned, more than likely did suffer from either SP or the beginning stages of WILD, but I do not believe that to be the case for every person. Do you really think that every single one of those people who suddenly experience a WILD or SP suddenly start dreaming about the exact same things? It seems pretty unlikely to me.

Well it seems pretty unlikely to me that they didn't get obducted in the middle ages, or any time before UFOs became famous. I think that aliens just switched places with withces, devils and deamons. I remember watching a show about witches and how in a town they burned many women, just becaues of SP induced by some special kind of flour. That's what I think/remember. It seems pretty unlikely that there is a race so advanced that they actually come to earth just to probe human beings, eaven though it's possible. There isn't any reasonable proof, at least I haven't seen any.
