      My Election Decision (website)

I came across this website (well actually it was forced down my throat): http://myelectiondecision.org . I vaguely remember someone posting a similar website, but this one seems to be much more legitimate. You basically read a bunch of quotes from different candidates and rank them, but you don't get to see who said what. At the end it totals your scores among 5 candidates.

I'd love for some of you to try this out, because I actually was surprised by who my supposed first choice was. But I was downright shocked by the second. So, give this a try and let me know what you think.

Don't hurt me if someone has already posted the exact same website.

Its a good idea, but there has to be some motive for making such a site. Meaning, the creator must have a favorite candidate.

Furthermore, do the creators leave out quotes that make their candidate look bad?

I'm not saying this is the case, but I don't believe people should let a website tell you who is best for you. I'll give it a go and give a further opinion.

Basically what they do is pick a few different issues and use quotes that summarize each candidate's position. Seems legit...

None of the quotes are "bad" or taken out of context or anything.

Nothing in life is ever simply black or white.

This site, like many other mainstream media "decision" sites, is most likely just another way of swaying some undecided independents who haven't seriously taken the time to look at the issues or the candidates, into someone's corner. The bias can be extremely subtle, but if it gets just a fraction more results for a certain candidate, it may make all the difference in a certain state, and the time and effort that went into making the site was worth it for that person or persons with the vested interest.

I hope I don't need to explain how piss-poor a state someone is in, if they need a multiple choice quiz to tell them who to vote for...

Not that it really matters anyway...

Your choices in today's skewed system are...
multinational conglomerate affiliated corporate puppet A
multinational conglomerate affiliated corporate puppet B
multinational conglomerate affiliated corporate puppet C

(Oh, and don't bother listening to or voting for that fringe person D who is actually fighting for peace and individual rights. Who needs those, anyway? Everything is juuuuuust right. )

My goodness. Can't anyone just actually spend a few minutes looking at the site and tell me if the results are what were expected?

Actually, the idea of picking a candidate based on what he or she says seems like a great way to get taken to the cleaners.

What have they DONE? How have they voted? What experiences do they carry to the table?

Words are cheap, as this already way too long primary season has proved.

You can roll your eyes at me all you want, but what I said makes sense.

Why do you need a multiple choice quiz of quotes to decide who to vote for so badly, anyway?

pj understands. Look up their past and their ties. Their stance on many an issue will be clear as day after that. It takes 5-10 minutes. There is no reason in today's digital age that people can't take the time to get and stay informed.

Okay. Nowhere did I say that this was some way to help you decide who to vote for. Nowhere in my posts did I even hint at that. Even if you know all of their stances (which I did enough to be able to identify most of the quotes), this is simply an interesting little quiz to take. It's obviously not going to influence anyone's decision, and if it does, then that person has problems. Regardless of its uselessness, it is still quite interesting. No need to get worked up about it.

Ok - I'll take the quiz. Now you have me curious.

Interesting is in the eye of the beholder. And, no need to worry, there is absolutely no way for me to get "worked up" from something typed on an internet forum.

McCain, Paul, Huck, Hil and B'raq.

No surprise there for me, though I know that McCain talks a path he has never even approached, let alone walked.

      Ok... moving on.

      Now you're getting it!

      and 1...and 2....and 1...and 2...

Oh, and since you put it so eloquently here's the results of the quiz...

      Ron Paul 5 5 2 3 5 84
      Mike Huckabee 1 3 4 5 1 54
      Barack Obama 3 3 1 1 1 37
      John McCain 1 1 4 1 1 36
      Hillary Clinton 1 5 1 1 1 33

No surprise here. I kind of knew who said what though...I REALLY dislike Huckabee but he obviously copied Ron Paul's stance on a lot of stuff which is why he inadvertently got a few points. Sorry Huck, but there is no such thing as a "FAIR tax". That's like saying "PEACE bullets". As for everyone else, they all suck because they are socialist or fascist corporate warmongering special interest shills.

Sadly, the president will be one of those warmongering corporate shills. The corporations will it, so the masses blindly follow. Things change, but nothing changes...

How do you guys like the new flag?

I pledge allegiance to the flag of The United Corporations of America...and to the company for which it stands... one currency... under control... indisputable... with barcodes and taxes for all...

Well mine came close to my real opinions:

      1. Ron Paul. No surprise there. I'd give my left arm to get him in the white house.
      2. Hilary Clinton. #3 for me. I hate her but I could never vote for anyone that will keep us in Iraq
      3. Barak Obama. #2. I hate the democrats position on healthcare, but again, it's better than staying in Iraq
      4. John McCain. My last choice. For obvious reasons.
      5. Mike Huckabee. Better than McCain.

      1 Barack Obama 102
      2 Hillary Clinton 82
      3 John McCain 37
      4 Mike Huckabee 32
      5 Ron Paul 26

Absolutely no surprises for me, this is the order in which I rate the candidates in general. Also, the margins between the candidates is more or less accurate too. I kinda had an idea of which candidates went with which quote, but I tried hard to rate the quotes accurately on how they reflected my opinion.

It's quite ironic that in a country that was founded on protection of personal liberties, and even have a giant iconic national statue devoted to the idea right outside the harbor of their greatest city, now have now found themselves where the majority seem to have forgotten what the word means, and now fervently support those with the least libertarian views out there...

The lackadaisical luxury of consumer capitalism and corporate brainwashing has corroded the minds of people over the last 50-60 years... Most don't even know what happened last monday, let alone care enough to learn the true history of their country... even with the easy access to information on the internet. The United States of Amnesia. No need to worry, just take another Prozac or Paxil with your fluoridated water, buy your cancer-causing aspartame artificial sweetened snacks and drinks, watch your mindless media, play your Xbox360, and go back to sleep! Everything is juuuuust right.

I find your nonconformist attitude quite refreshing. The indoctrination of the public school system, coupled with the propaganda spewed by our government had forced me into a small-minded existence that was reflected in my small-minded selection of presidential candidates. However, after experiencing your truly original non-conformism, my little sphere of existence was expanded immensely! Not only do I recognize the conspiracy that our government and powerful companies hide from us, I see how I perpetuate it by following social norms. Viva la revolución!. Thank you. I now realize that by doing anything in the same manner as anyone else, I am continuing the brainwashing that our leaders hope for. Please, dispense more of your enlightened wisdom so that the unrefined among us may reach our transcended state so that they can share our cultured ideas!

Honestly, do all of you meet up in a big "Conference of Nonconformists" so that together you can all decide what to say in the exact same wording? Do you guys think it's ironic to appear like you all conform to the same nonconformist mindset?

Nonconformists? You say that as if it's a bad thing to be? Since when did questioning the abuse of authority become the fringe thing to do?

That's funny, because I thought that's what America's founding fathers did...

Those silly nonconformists, what were they thinking? A land of the free? Pfft... who needs that? I must say, I'm impressed. You got it all figured out at 18 years of age...
