I'm currently watching CNN (I know I say that alot ) and shit just went from bad to worse. The proposed bailout of AIG, Lehman brothers, Freddie Mae and Fannie Mac etc. will cost an estimated 1,000,000,000,000 (one-trillion dollars). Michael Wolf ran the stats and said it would cost every man, woman, and child living in America about $3,500. Or to put it in a different perspective...that's how much you'll be short over your annual paycheck. Do you think this will ultimately help America? So far the reactions/responses from the public are mixed. But just to throw salt on a wound...America is comprised of tens of millions of people who are under the age of 18 who simply cannot afford to pay that money (let alone have jobs). Which is why that $3,500...will probably triple and trickle up to the adults. If you listen to Dave Ramsey (Financial Guru) you know that he stresses the importance of having an emergency fund. I asked my family yesterday if they had emergency funds to prepare for what CNN's Erica called (America's financial 9/11). They said no. In the book Why We Want You To Be Rich, Donald J. Trump and Robert T. Kiyosaki told us that this would happen. They predicted it would get worse and said that the American economy would probably collapse well before 2,020. And think about this...The baby boomer's are going to retire soon and 85% of them don't have enough money saved for their retirement. Not to mention the federal government can't take care of them like the baby boomers naively believe they can seeing as social security, medicare and medicaid are on a fast path to bankruptcy. I digress so let me get to my question...what will YOU do? Are you prepared for the free world's financial meltdown? Are you naively believing your job is secure or do you have a business of your own (or are making arrangements to start one). Now would be a great time to educate yourselves on what's going on and how you can flourish financially in such a time as this. I was a consultant for a large privately owned company before leaving about a year ago. I just received word that the company itself is shutting down cafe's they started, owned, and operated throughout the country because of the state of the economy. That really hit home. I'm not trying to scare you...I want those who don't know how bad this is to wake themselves up from their bubbles of comfort and ignorance they've encapsulated themselves in and DO something. This might be the best time to follow your dreams and passions...so tell me your thoughts, share your ideas and tell me what you have done and/or what you are doing to prepare not only yourself but your loved ones as well |

Things are not as they seem

In very many cases, the visionary quality, the quality of the vision so to say, spills over, into the external world, so that the experiencer, when he opens his eyes, sees the outer world transfigured...
I'm not American and i'm not very educated in this field but i get the feeling, like you said, that things might just "collapse" and alot of people aint gonna be happy :\ |

"Dont drink six beers at the same time?...BRILLIANT!"
man, Ive been watching all week except for today. are they repeating this news? no doubt knowing cnn.... |
|
That's not what he meant. He meant that the average effect of unemployment (and other things) will be -$3,500 per person (or whatever the number was). So one person might lose the job, another might not get an expected raise, but others will no doubt gain from this. But the average is a certain net decrease in annual income. |

So wait. |
|
Exactly. |

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.
As I read the OP, turned on the tv to CNN and it was talking just about this. |
|
- Are you an idiot?
- No sir, I'm a dreamer.
Korea's gonna take over the world, or didn't you know? |
|
So I can expect to lose my home on Tuesday then? |

News Flash, the American depth was already 8 trillion or more before the mortgage-crisis. (Bill left America with a surplus, lol @ spending rednecks/republicans.) |

Conspiracy? What about what I said was reminiscent of a conspiracy theory? I think you should learn the clear difference between likely possibilities and conspiracy theories. Conspiracy theories are things which don't get much air time...THIS however is something that (if you watch the news at all) is all over the news. And they are NOT sugar-coating the situation. I think you really should read what I said instead of writing it off as a conspiracy theory, your post would be much more appreciated instead of dipping your two cents in without knowing what the real subject matter is. And yes, you are right, the US is in trillions of dollars of debt already. But just the same, there's nothing "+little" about 12 zeroes my friend, nothing. But if you feel that way about it, you're more than welcome to take care of the bill for us. We'd be much obliged. |

Yet another reason why I'm leaving this awful country and moving to Canada. |

Doesn't matter.... If they incorperate socialized health care from them here, then I'll stay. Or move to Japan. |
|
I see....I just disagree with anything socialized thats all |

I would rather die on my feet then to live on my knees.
Ah... you've been brainwashed by the American government to think that anything socialized will lead us into some kind of communist country. Well, look around... the police department, postal service, and fire department have all been socialized. Doesn't seem so bad now, does it? |
|
how can i be brainwashed against socialism in a government which promotes socialism? |

I would rather die on my feet then to live on my knees.
Maybe so..... |
|
Maybe, because from what I remember the constitution gave us strict orders to preserve the government as it was, a SMALL government with no departments and no limits to individual liberty. |

I would rather die on my feet then to live on my knees.
True.... |
