Im going to try and sound as reserved as possible in this respect, but to me it all comes down to percentages of population. This country is still predominantly white so of course things relating to white culture are going to be more prevalent. That being said, if you go to an area of the US where it is predominantly another race you will find the exact opposite. I view this as good. In fact, I dont mind if other cultures continue to grow in this country, I just dont think any other culture should have to die down because another is growing. Soon, this country may have more hispanics then whites...at that time will we then have an article exactly like this except titled "Hispanic Privilege"? Hopefully not.

white privilege..!! its a double edged sword!!

in this day and age, I'm happy to be short with curly hair and facial features that are latin. My appearance is ethnically generic, most people have no idea what my "race" is. I can sorta "blend" in. I can "blend" in with whites. I can tell them I'm French, some thought I was French - they don't know any better. I can tell them I'm Mexican - they won't argue with me. I'm not Mexican. That's the nice part about being hispanic and having genes from all parts of world - europe, middle east, africa, and native caribbean blood. BE JEALOUS! Not to mention, my height, while short for an american, is more normal in other places. So I won't look like a lanky amazon walking around in tokyo! HAH

this person does fit that sort of american white middle class stereotype, in that they seem to be saying that as a white person they are so privilege, they need not have fear. life is bliss, tra-la-la-la-la!

HELLO!! that was the kind of IGNORANCE that shocked americans that some one actually wanted to, GASP, attack us. And that they actually, did. And when the terrorists attacked New York, do you think it was because they have beef with the hispanic population??? New York City has always been a symbol of America. A symbol of the WHITE western world, and all that it stands for.

And what do you think those suicide idiots were imagining when they attacked New York, I would think, in their blind ignorance that they were imagining : white blonde christian church going pizza and hamburger eating americans. Not because they like other races better, they don't. But thats the sort of ignorance others have of americans. That is what they think of, when they hear the word "A M E R I C A N". So in this respect, I'm grateful im not included in the picture. Though I should be. *why doesn't anyone think of the short person with curly hair? why?*

There are many places in the world, where your chances of being kidnapped and ransomed for money increases - because of the blinding whiteness of your skin. There are so many stories like this. And in these dangerous parts, really any american is in danger because these dangerous folk equate american with money. But let's face it, youre tall and white, you just look more american than me, and you can be bloody fuckin european! These dangerous places are found in Central and south america, africa, the middle east, asia...........cuba. That's, a lot!

That's a lot of places where the white privilege doesn't really exist.

And that's why this person seems to illustrate the stereotype of the ignorant white american - ignorant of how the world is really going round. Ignorant of how, the white skin color today is hated in other parts of the world.

So for all of you tall ass white blondies out there, you are a glowing target - literally in the sun - if you aren't already a lobster. And remember, when visiting far and away and exotic countries, YOU STAND OUT. And when standing out isn't a good thing, stick to the tourist areas

So I admit it's kinda nice not looking like the stereotypical american, when people are thinking bad thoughts about americans. But I will never be as privileged. Not because of my race, but my gender

For one, I'm too afraid to walk at night!

You're a little paranoid I guess. I'm European but I, like many other non-Americans, don't view "all" americans (nice generalizing there) as rich white hamburger eating morons. Who go to church.

I'm sorry, but I have to agree.

How many "exotic" places you listed have you actually been to?

What date did this person write this list. EDIT: 1990 winter issue of something apparently.

18 years ago(I mean well depending on whether it was written at the beginning or end of the year).

Maybe half of the things she said were accurate then, but I find most of these claims just silly compared to today. And some of what she complained about had nothing to do with race, but instead money. Another thing which made me annoyed was the claims she was making that essentially living in a place that has a larger population of your race is somehow a privileged status... I don't see how that is but ok.

Btw, Catholics don't like to circumcise.

I personally think circumcision is wrong...mutilating a baby for no reason?

I think something like that is a big choice and should be left up to the person who it is being done to. Let boys grow up before you start performing surgeries on them that actually can wait...

And actually, in many hospitals during the time I was born you actually had to opt out of having your child circumcised if you didn't want him circumcised.

By providing those statistics I did not mean to steer this thread in a differant direction.

      I don't see how it's mutilation.

It has benefits, when the kid is a baby you don't have to roll his foreskin back to clean him. I'm definitely circumcizing my kid.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

You're cutting off a bit of him that doesn't need to be cut off. Lets all cut off babies pinkie toes! Come on guys, it will be easier to fit into shoes. It has its benefits.

I wouldn't know because I am circumcised, but uncircumcised people, and people who became circumcised later in life, say that sexual pleasure for them is greater with foreskin, and that after circumcision it is lessened dramatically. Sorry son, I know you want to enjoy sex, but when you were little I wanted it to be easier to clean you.

It is just a blood ritual some crazy people came up with, and it should be done away with imo.

A pinky toe is required to stand up, and nothing about a pinky toe makes it harder to clean the foot.

And there's no statistical data that says sexual pleasure goes "way down" when you get circumsized.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

No, a pinky toe isn't required to stand up. You can still stand up without a pinky toe, and walk, in the same way you can still have sex after circumcision. The foreskin aids sexual pleasure. The pinky toe aids balance. The aid from foreskin to sexual pleasure, however, is greater than the aid to balance a pinky toe offers. Having a pinky toe does indeed cause many types of problems because people wear shoes, I said nothing about cleaning the foot, I purposely gave you the correct parallel, not the faulty one you are presenting of "cleaning the foot." You can at least learn to walk the same without a pinky toe, you can't learn to feel more pleasure without foreskin.

Why are you quoting "way down"?

It is pretty hard to do statistics on something most people have done when they are infants, so they can't compare.

They can't really do a study on adults and say anything because the age at which it was done could affect it. But there was a study done http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/69318.php which suggests that circumcision in adults does indeed decrease pleasure, in almost half of the cases.

I quoted that becazuse I'm an up and coming journalist practicing to be on fox news by misrepresenting your ideas and flat out making things up.

Anyways, you're spinning this all in inaccurate ways. The pinky is much more beneficial to th leg than you realize, and that article did not point out in dramatic changes in pleasure.

The penis gets desensitized more, but so does playing with it in general so that's not something you can avoid.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.
