The effect of temperature on lucidity and sleeping in general

Introduction: So just what the title says, this study I propose is about temperature, since I only found very few topics about temperature here and none of them lived for long or was a serious research thread in this section. But maybe I could include the posts of those threads in this experiment if necessery. I will keep this thread updated if something new comes up. Enough with the introduction, on with the LSOP.

Target: Finding a relation between temperature, sleep and lucidity, and put the data in correlation to the variables.

It'd be necessery for every participant to either post several blocks of data, or to post the average data of a few days with same temperature conditions. The experiment hasn't started yet but once it will I will make a fool-proof description with examples of what is needed exactly. Here's what data is needed later on.

      Relevant data:
      - Quantity of sleep
      - Quality of sleep
      - Quantity of LDs
      - Quality of LDs
      (Optional, but might be helpful)
      - Quality of dream recall

      Variables:
      - Room Temperature
      - Outside Temperature
      - Temperature range of your country of origin
[- Temperature range of your current country if different from above]
[- Time to get used to the different climate]
      (Optional, but might be helpful)
      - Current season in your country
      - Weather
      - Humidity
      - Age/Gender (this would be only useful if a lot of people participate)

Sidenote: If there's something special about you that could be related to the data, just include it.

Hypothesis: This part is a bit tricky, since it's a general research topic rather than a observable phenomenon. Obviously the general hypothesis is that temperature is related with sleep and LDs, the question is in what way and how much.

      How the experiment goes:
1: Discussion, if you feel there's something wrong or anything else that should be considered, post it (this should take a few days, maybe a week)
2: Finish refining the thread and start executing the experiment (this should stretch over several months before going onto step 3)
3: Come to a conclusion (while leaving step 2 open though, in case some important data pops up later)

Currently we are in step 1.

Notes: I'm thinking about making this the discussion thread and making a thread for people to post the data in later, for the sake of having it seperated.
I myself might not be able to fill in on data about LDs, however in my case the heat severly reduces my overall sleep quality as well as the quality of my dream recall, I suspect this is not exactly making it easier for me. Even if achieving lucidity isn't hard itself, when you can't sleep properly... well you probably get the idea. So any data of people who didn't have their first LD yet but tried for a while is more than welcome too.

I think I've read quite a few studies that say warmer temperatures aid in lucid dreaming, because you are less comfortable and therefore at a lighter level of sleep. Cold temperatures are not good for lucid dreaming, because you tend to sleep deeper and have less REM, or at least, less recall. But I still think a forum study is a great project. You should make it more formal.

Well first of all I went through most of the temperature related topics I found with the searchfunction. The replies were pretty far off from each other, a lot of people prefered it cold just as much as a lot of people prefered it warm. So I would expect an erratic result overall. As far as I can speak for myself for example warm temperatures hurt my overall sleeping, I'd rather have it 15C° colder than my ideal temperature (which would be around 15C° itself) than just barely having 5C° too much, lets just say when it's up for sleeping I hate heat more than anything else. I was 2 weeks in a different house, where it still was too warm, but not nearly as warm as in my current room. My dream recall suffered so much from the change I had my first night in a very very long time where I seriously don't remember anything at all, even after waking up several times and trying to recall something. I'd take it as a sign this does not help me to dream lucid. Which conflicts with what you said, and this conflict says, as I think, that the perfect temperature for sleep/dreaming is individual to everyone. That's what made me think about making this study since it could aid people to know about this varying individual temperature.
I'm so much of a cold type I actually only can get out my full potential at about -5C°, for physical tasks and 15C° for mental tasks. I'm a walking radiator and heat storage and I don't like it.

I don't quite get what you mean with making it more formal (making a club for this or something like that?), please explain it in a bit more detail.
