I can fly.. but not too high...

Hello! This is my first post here! I joined this dream forum to ask a question.

I've always had the ''mental freedom'' to be able to fly at will when I am dreaming. When I find myself in a nightmare, or in a place I don't like in a dream, I can simply make myself float through the walls and fly out into the sky, as fast or slow as I want.

This is all good, but it seems like I can only go a specific distance when I am flying. For instance, when I am dreaming and I fly up into the night sky, I keep going higher and higher until the sky turns into a ''wall'' that I can touch, but can't push through. I can look down and see the layout of my dream (which is often times surprisingly very intricate), but I cant go up any further. Why is this? Why won't my mind allow me to go past the sky, out into space? It is very frustrating because this happens every time I fly in my dream and I want to see whats out there!

Ok this is my 2nd question.

I have heard that the places you see in your dreams are places that your mind creates, and mixtures of places you have seen before.

If that is true, how on earth am I dreaming up such strange places I have never seen before? How are the places in my dreams so detailed and intricate? I don't think I have the mental capability to even think up such places I see in my dreams.. so I don't think its true.

I can't say I've ever flown out into space, but when I was having trouble getting altitude before, reading other people's accounts of doing it helped me get past that belief barrier (literal in your case ). You might try some tag searches in the Dream Journals.

I've run into "walls" before, too, and I think it was a dream stability issue. My favorite stabilizing method is to close my eyes within the dream and think the words "higher level lucidity." For me, it prevents waking or losing lucidity, but also improves dream control, which might help you get past that wall.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama
