Is there a name for this?

im not sure exactly how to explain it but there was one time that I had a dream while I was awake. i cant remember the dream at all but I remember dreaming. I layed down one night to go to sleep and I never fell asleep. I just layed there with my eyes open the entire night. i was completely aware of my body lying in the bed and I could see everything around me. It started as I started to see random colors swimming through my vision. Eventually they formed into a whole enviroment that I could see as if it was projected onto my walls in real life. then I started to feel my body in the dream. I could feel both my dream body as I interacted with dream items. but I could also feel my body in my bed. I looked at my clock occasionaly in real life and the dream would fade but as soon as i look away from the clock the dream would come back and pick up where it left off. I never fell asleep that night and I saw everythingin real life and the dream at the same time. It was like being in two places at once. Eventually I looked at my clock and realized that it was time to get up for school so I just got up and got ready for school. Even though I never slept that night I felt more rested than I had in many nights.

Must have been some good LSD

I'm kidding, I'm new to all of this but my guess is that you could have been in sleep paralysis. My understanding of sleep paralysis is your body is unconscious while your mind is still very well active. I heard that some people use sleep paralysis to become lucid during dreams, helping them control their dreams better.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong

I had something like this happen to me once, but not all night! Pretty cool. In my experience, my husband was getting ready for work, so I got up to lay on the couch until he finished. I could see the ceiling, and I could feel the couch. Then, the ceiling began to form the shape of an eye and I could see through it. I saw trees and sky and weather changes, as if I was seeing through all of time. I had written it down on my old computer, but it crashed . I don't remember all the details, but at one point, I could feel something beside my head, which told me to continue watching. I remember still sensing I was in the room and my husband was in the kitchen (by that point), but I was still able to view through the ceiling to this other experience. I think Vegas is right...SP.

Well from what Ive heard of the sleep paralysis you feel constricted or like someones sitting on you. I didnt feel like that at all and I would know if I did because I am very claustrophobic (spelling?) Also i had to move to look at my clock and I even turned over a few times. While still continuing the dream!

You know, I had a similar experience like yours. It was extremely trippy when I had experienced it as a child.
I was lucid dreaming, and I was aware that my bathroom scene was a dream, and I could feel my real body on the bed from a distance across the halls, and I was aware in both my dream, and my real body. It was like being at two places at once. I could move in my real life body while being in the bathroom in dream.

Well its comforting to know that Im not the only one who has had this happen. I wonder if it was an OBE? well from what Ive read in my book about the paranormal people who have OBEs arent aware of their physical bodies though. One person I read about used it to escape pain so idk. Im not sure whether I actually believ in OBE either so i doubt thats what it was.

But whats strange is even though I was AWAKE the whole time and looking around in both real life and the dream It felt like it was the best sleep I ever had. I think that this experience I had one time is kinda similar to how the elves sleep in the eragon books if any of yall have read those?

Hmmm I know this is kinda old one of my first threads. and this is a double post to try and bring it back but I was thinking about it again and didnt want to make a new thread about it.

So I will kinda restate what I said in the first post. I was awake and fully conscious of my body and my eyes were open but I was also dreaming and was fully aware of my dream body. I knew it was a dream and I felt like I was in two different places at once. Would that be considered a WILD? a WILD without ever actually falling asleep and being aware of both of my enviroments simultaneously
I accept that my reality is always a dream so if something changes I know I'm right.
