      It's common to dream about something if it's playing on your mind heavily. The loss of a relative, recent or not-so-recent, can be hugely devastating and may linger on your mind for days, weeks, months, even years. If it's utterly broken you as a person, odds are it's one of the only things you'll be thinking about, and therefore, dreaming about them will be pretty common. That's what I think anyway.
