      Question Progressive story(not recurring) dreams?

What I mean is that a dream(s) where each dream is a chapter in the story.

I started having dreams about a girl I liked where we would go to a place only we knew about. This started in 1st grade and ended in High School. I only knew the girl about 2 years before we moved and I never saw her again. There were probably 5-6 dreams (chapters) in all.

The basis of the dream was that each time we would meet up in this wooded area, each time it was built up a little more. Started with a blanket, then went to a clubhouse, small house, small office-type building and then the last chapter was a larger office building. We decided that it was getting too big and it was getting noticed by outside people, so we decided to sell it and go our seperate ways.

There were more details, but don't remember them.

Has anybody else had these type of dreams?

I remember having three dreams when I was about 8 (one each night, one after the other) that involved me and a caterpillar. It could speak; when it did, it was in a kid's voice and was really cute. At the end of the third dream, the caterpillar had to leave and I woke up very upset. I haven't had any other dreams like that.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I've never had dreams like that on separate nights, but sometimes if I wake up during a dream and go back to sleep while still thinking about it I'll either be thrown back into the "same" dream and it picks up in the same location with the same people (but usually starts to diverge from the original plot), or I'll go into a new dream that uses the previous dream as a reason for what's happening in the current one if that makes any sense.

When I was 6 years old I had a dream where I was in a forest and a bunch of animals came to sing to me. Each year after that on my birthday the dream would continue. It went on for several years.

That happens when I have nightmares! I have to physically get out of bed for a little while or else the nightmare continues.

That got me thinking, I wonder if it's the emotion attached to the dream that allows it to happen? I have a very hard time continuing a dream on purpose but it seems more likely if I was really absorbed in what was going on.
