What is this called? Does it happen to anyone else?

When I dream, usually I'm lucid in a sense. I'm not really myself though, I'm like in a 3rd person point of view looking at myself from somewhere else, I can fly in this state but I almost always have to be looking at myself. I can still control things as well, but I cannot smell, nor feel anything, since I'm not in my body. Does this happen to anyone else?

When I am Lucid, it doesnt feel very special. Its like a normal dream so I cant control it or anything but the only difference is I know I am dreaming :/

I had 2 lucid dreams in one night that kinda showed an evolution.

The first one was as you describe: watching what's going on but not doing anything on your own accord.

The second one was a Finger Induced LD (variation of WILD) I tried summoning someone, failed and went along with the dream from there on. I'd occasionally try something I wouldn't be able to do in waking life (put my finger through a window and it let my finger through in a way much like icy snow does, like it was a wall of icy snow instead of a glass window) and made a violently barking dog "sit" on command.

      I'm getting there..

too lazy to read the other posts on the forum, so i dont know if anyone else has said this yet.
this does happen to me sometimes, and i think it has to do with the fact that my daydreams are more like movies than anything else. i would take characters from movies/ tv shows/books i like, and daydream out a new/altered storyline in a series of shots viewed from the 3d person. i used to be in them, but now ive stopped putting myself in my own daydreams! (for the most part) so yeah, i end up having dreams that look more like movies :/
